{"id":16172,"date":"2024-06-11T06:38:16","date_gmt":"2024-06-11T06:38:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=16172"},"modified":"2024-06-11T08:29:46","modified_gmt":"2024-06-11T08:29:46","slug":"dont-involve-your-students-in-partisan-politics-afenyo-markin-urges-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=16172","title":{"rendered":"Don&#8217;t involve Your Students in Partisan Politics &#8211; Afenyo-markin Urges Teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Majority Leader of Parliament and MP for Effutu, Hon Alexander Afenyo-Markin has urged teachers within the Constituency and beyond not to involve their students with their partisan politics in classrooms.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He said teachers like any other Ghanaians have the right to do partisan politics to shape their political ideologies ahead of the December 7, 2024 election but they must restrain from.involving their pupil.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>&#8220;It\u2019s an election year, you may have your views on the politics that we\u2019re doing, but people have their views. But as teachers, please avoid unnecessary acrimony in the school. Debate your issues, but don\u2019t let it get out of hand. Don\u2019t let us polarise the educational environment. Your children that you are teaching, don\u2019t extend to them&#8221;, he said.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16173\" src=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_20240610_132612_053.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3549\" height=\"1728\" \/>According to the Majority Leader, such practice polarises the educational environment, creating acrimony between students.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Afenyo-markin made this comment during the distribution of laptops to teachers from the Effutu municipality as part of his one-teacher-one-laptop initiative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have your views, please do your critique, do your recommendations in a very healthy atmosphere, we need it. The politics of insults will not help the country. I should be able to rise on my feet and debate my respected colleague on the other side, Dr Ato Forson and his team on issues.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16176\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16176\" style=\"width: 3469px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16176\" src=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_20240610_130449_261.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3469\" height=\"1728\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16176\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em><strong>Hon Afenyo-markin<\/strong><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd thereafter, we take tea, a cup of coffee, fruit juice or enjoy \u2018waakye\u2019, that is the beauty of democracy. In those advanced countries, that\u2019s what they do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Notwithstanding, Mr Afenyo-markin said he remained committee to the well being of teachers, hence the laptops to support their research work meet the modern demands of a teacher.<\/p>\n<p>He however advised the teachers to put the Laptops to good use to enhance their teaching.<\/p>\n<p>He said , \u201cTeachers we want to help you educate our kids. You need the necessary tools, in this era of Artificial Intelligence, if you don\u2019t get the necessary tools, you will be left behind. And the kids may even know more than you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease make good use of it, research and impart knowledge. Fortunately, in Effutu today, we have libraries all over.
