Former President John Dramani Mahama has criticized President Akufo-Addo for allegedly gossiping about Burkina Faso during a visit to the United States, which he claims has damaged the relationship between Ghana and Burkina Faso.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mahama stated that Akufo-Addo’s comments created tensions between the two countries, which were not fully resolved despite Akufo-Addo’s subsequent apology visit to Burkina Faso.<\/p>\n

He emphasized the need for Ghana to regain trust with its neighbors, particularly Burkina Faso, to effectively address security threats such as insurgency and jihadism.<\/p>\n

The NDC leader pledged to strengthen border security and work closely with Burkina Faso if he is elected in the upcoming December 7th elections.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the urgency of reinforcing Ghana’s security, especially in light of recent insurgent activities in Burkina Faso.
\nMahama stressed the importance of resolving internal conflicts, such as the ongoing disturbances in Bawku, to prevent areas with weakened security from becoming entry points for terrorists.<\/p>\n

He reiterated his commitment to addressing security challenges and related issues if he is elected.<\/p>\n

Ghana’s border security is a critical aspect of national security, and the country has taken steps to strengthen it. However, there are still challenges that need to be addressed.<\/p>\n

The Northern border is considered vulnerable to security threats, particularly from extremists in neighboring Burkina Faso.<\/p>\n

The border with Burkina Faso is porous, allowing for the free flow of weapons and contraband.<\/p>\n

There have been cases of terrorist recruitment in northern Ghana, particularly in communities along the border with Burkina Faso.<\/p>\n
