The 2024 NPP Manifesto offers a comprehensive action plan designed to build on the remarkable legacy of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Samuel Abu Jinapor, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources has said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to him, the 2024 Manifesto is best as it aims to create hundreds of thousands of jobs for Ghanaian youth and deliver the much-needed development across the country.<\/p>\n

He highlighted\u00a0 some of the government\u2019s key achievements, the incoming President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, poised to leverage these successes to drive prosperity for all Ghanaians.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2024 Manifesto launch in Western Region on Sunday, August 18, Abu Jinapor said through strategic and innovative policies, Ghana has now overtaken South Africa as the leading gold producer in Africa and ranks among the top in the world.<\/p>\n

He mentioned the revitalization of the Dormaa, Bibiani, and Obuasi mines as some of the revamed mines that generated substantial revenue, with gold exports surpassing $5 billion in the first half of this year alone.<\/p>\n

The Minister said the new investments under President Akufo-Addo administration have flowed into the country, with three additional gold mines currently under construction which include Newmont in the Ahafo Region, Cardinal Namdini in the Upper East Region, and Azumah Resources in the Upper West Region.<\/p>\n

These projects, he noted, are expected to further cement Ghana\u2019s status as a gold powerhouse in Africa while creating numerous high-paying jobs for the youth.<\/p>\n

Abu Jinapor explained that, the 2024 NPP manifesto emphasizes value addition and local content policies, including the establishment of refineries, mandatory listings on the Ghana Stock Exchange, and reserving specific jobs and services for the Ghanaian private sector, \u00a0emphasizing that these initiatives ensure that the benefits of Ghana\u2019s enhanced indigenous mining industry are felt directly by the people.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he said the government\u2019s enhanced regulation of the small-scale mining sector and the expansion of community mining schemes have brought much-needed reforms as the sector is undoubtedly more sanitized than it was in 2016.<\/p>\n

He said the government policies on reduction of withholding tax on unprocessed gold from 3% to 1.5% has resulted in an over 6,000% increase in gold exports from the small-scale mining sector alone.<\/p>\n

He said the domestic gold purchase program has significantly boosted Ghana\u2019s gold reserves, which have grown from 8 tons since independence to 17 tons within the past five years. Additionally, the Gold-for-Oil initiative has played a vital role in stabilizing fuel prices at the pump.<\/p>\n

Under the NPP\u2019s plan, Abu Jinapor who is the MP for Damongo said will establish the Novel Minerals Development Bank, which will focus on financing and supporting the growth of the mining sector, noting,\u201d This will lead to more jobs for Ghanaians, with both large and small-scale mining operations flourishing under this policy framework.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the forestry sector, he said Ghana has become a global leader in sustainable forest management and climate action, stressing that, \u201cThe Green Ghana initiative alone has led to the planting of 52 million trees over the past four years. Between 2017 and 2023, approximately 721,000 hectares of forest cover have been restored\u2014five times more than before.\u201d<\/p>\n

With these achievements and plans outlined in the manifesto, he said the NPP is confident that Ghana is on the right path toward sustainable growth, job creation, and environmental stewardship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe promise is clear: jobs, prosperity, and development for all Ghanaians under a Bawumia-led government,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
