The Volta Regional House of Chiefs (VRHC) is demanding the removal of inland immigration posts at Asikuma and Sogakope, as well as a police barrier at Juapong. <\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs (VRHC), these posts serve no purpose and only harass and humiliate travelers, including chiefs.<\/p>\n

The VRHC argues that immigration posts are only necessary at the country’s entry and exit points, not at inland locations.<\/p>\n

Additionally, they point out that there are no longer any secessionist activities in the region, which was previously a concern.<\/p>\n

Some of the specific complaints include immigration officers ordering travelers to get off buses and walk to a point beyond the post, and holding travelers hostage until they prove they are Ghanaians by speaking Twi. The VRHC finds these actions unacceptable and demeaning.<\/p>\n

Three paramount chiefs, Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui, Togbe Nakakpo Dugbaza VII, and Togbe Drake Tsigbe IV, have personally experienced harassment in these posts and have complained to the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.<\/p>\n

The VRHC is calling for the immediate removal of these posts to allow travelers to move freely and without harassment.<\/p>\n
