The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has announced plans to take legal action against the government over the dismissal of over 70 public service appointees.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The appointees were relieved of their duties following a directive from the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, citing non-compliance with good governance practices and principles.<\/p>\n

Assafuah, who has received approximately 60 complaints from affected individuals, described the dismissals as “autocratic” and “politically motivated.” He argued that the appointments were legally made by the previous administration and that the dismissals constitute political victimization.<\/p>\n

The MP has called on all affected persons to come forward as he prepares to challenge the dismissals in court. This development comes after the Chief of Staff instructed all heads of government institutions to nullify the appointments and recruitments made after December 7, 2024, and submit a comprehensive report by February 17, 2025.<\/p>\n

Assafuah’s decision to take legal action against the government is a significant move, given his background as a legal expert. In a previous statement, he demonstrated his understanding of the legal framework, citing the principle of constitutional supremacy and the judiciary’s role in interpreting the Constitution.<\/p>\n
