{"id":19259,"date":"2025-02-13T15:19:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-13T15:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=19259"},"modified":"2025-02-13T15:19:00","modified_gmt":"2025-02-13T15:19:00","slug":"minority-demands-immediate-end-to-harassment-of-former-government-officials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=19259","title":{"rendered":"Minority Demands Immediate End to Harassment of Former Government Officials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Deputy Minority caucus\u00a0 in Parliament have\u00a0 condemned the alleged harassment of former government officials, calling for an immediate cessation of such actions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This comes after reports of raids on the residences of former Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta and former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).<\/p>\n<p>Addressing media in parliament, the Deputy Leader Hon Patricia Appiagyei emphasized the need for due process, stating that &#8220;a proper legal process must be followed in all matters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She warned against using security forces for political vendettas, describing it as a &#8220;dangerous step towards lawlessness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Minority\u00a0 urged the government to not only stop the alleged harassment but also to arrest and prosecute those responsible.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We demand that the government arrest and prosecute all those responsible for these actions immediately,&#8221; Appiagyei concluded.<\/p>\n<p>This development follows the OSP&#8217;s declaration of Mr. Ofori-Atta as a fugitive.<\/p>\n<p>The Minority&#8217;s call for an end to harassment and adherence to due process highlights concerns about the rule of law and accountability in Ghana&#8217;s political landscape.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Deputy Minority caucus\u00a0 in Parliament have\u00a0 condemned the alleged harassment of former government officials, calling for an immediate cessation of such actions.
