President John Mahama has sworn in 31 new members of the Council of State, marking the official start of their roles as advisors to the presidency.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ceremony took place at Jubilee House on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 \u00b9.<\/p>\n

The Council of State is composed of institutional nominees, including former Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho, who will serve as Chairman, as well as former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo and former Inspector General of Police Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan.<\/p>\n

Other notable members include the President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, and 16 regional representatives, who bring expertise from diverse fields such as education, business, law, and agriculture.<\/p>\n

The newly appointed members will serve for the duration of President Mahama’s tenure, unless they resign, become incapacitated, or are removed from office by the President with parliamentary approval.<\/p>\n

In his address, President Mahama urged there members to carry out their duties with diligence, selflessness, and integrity, emphasizing the critical role they will play in shaping national governance.<\/p>\n
