Hon. Mustapha Tanko Amadu, Member of Parliament for Bia West, has expressed strong support for President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to fight corruption and recover all looted state property.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He commended the president’s bold stance, which he believes will help restore Ghana’s economy, which he alleged was mismanaged by the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.<\/p>\n

Hon. Amadu\u2019s comments came in reaction to President Mahama’s State of the Nation address delivered to Parliament on Thursday, February 27, 2025.<\/p>\n

The MP emphasized the importance of addressing corruption, which he argued is a major barrier to the nation’s economic recovery.<\/p>\n

“Every aspect of the State of the Nation address resonates with my conscience because, as the president rightly pointed out, our government inherited a mess. Ghana, in many respects, is a crime scene,” he stated. “Under the previous administration, the economy was mismanaged across the board, and now, we must focus on restoring it.”<\/p>\n

Amadu stressed that without stabilizing the economy, the president’s policy plans cannot be effectively implemented. “We need to get the economy back on track before we can proceed with other important reforms,” he added. “The focus must be on cracking down on corruption within the previous administration.”<\/p>\n

The MP was clear about his support for the President’s anti-corruption efforts, saying that it forms a significant part of the government’s agenda.<\/p>\n

“Before the NPP took office, one of the reasons people supported the former president was because they believed he would tackle corruption head-on,” Amadu noted. “Now, it is clear that unless we clamp down on those who contributed to the country’s current state, Ghana cannot move forward.”<\/p>\n

He lauded President Mahama’s candid approach in his address, describing it as a reflection of the true state of the nation. “The president has been upfront and transparent with the people of Ghana,” he said. “This was an honest assessment of our situation, and it is important that Ghanaians understand the reality so that we can all work together to recover.”<\/p>\n

Amadu concluded by reiterating that the retrieval of stolen state assets remains the top priority. “We must ensure that whatever has been stolen from the people of Ghana is returned, whether by the previous government or those in power now.”<\/p>\n

The MP’s endorsement of President Mahama’s efforts reflects a broader commitment to tackling corruption and restoring trust in the country’s governance.<\/p>\n
