The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwesimintsim in the Western Region, Hon. Philip Fiifi Buckman, has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on the promises he made to his constituents during the 2024 general elections.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking in an exclusive interview with ExpressNewsGhana<\/em> in Parliament, Hon. Buckman emphasized that he would not renege on his development plans for the constituency.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on his campaign experience, he stated, \u201cI contested the 2020 elections, and though I did not win, I continued to engage with the people and stayed committed to understanding their issues. This allowed me to comprehensively address the needs of my constituency, which can be categorized into three main areas: infrastructure, jobs, and financial empowerment for businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hon. Buckman explained that he plans to focus on critical infrastructure development, particularly in sectors such as roads, education, and healthcare. A major concern for the MP is the lack of a government hospital in the constituency.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurrently, the only health facility is a military hospital in Efia, but it is not a government hospital. Our people need a proper government hospital, especially with the constituency\u2019s growing population,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

On the education front, he highlighted the need for additional schools, especially secondary schools, as the Takoradi Secondary School has become overcrowded.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that with the promise from the President to build a community-based school in the Hanta West area, we can address this issue. Our people need access to quality education,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

In addressing youth unemployment, the MP spoke about the potential of skill training initiatives, particularly in his constituency\u2019s large Zongo communities, such as Sofo Zongo and Sabun Zongo.<\/p>\n

“The youth in these communities are skilled, but they need proper training and opportunities to thrive. I am committed to pushing for government-backed initiatives that will empower these young people,” he assured.<\/p>\n

Hon. Buckman also addressed infrastructure challenges within the constituency, pointing out the dire need to rehabilitate key facilities such as the Jubilee Grounds and Abembebu Market, which has been neglected for years. “I\u2019m hopeful that the Women\u2019s Development Bank and local initiatives like the Kwesimintism Credit Union will help address some of these challenges,” he added.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he shared plans for launching K-Mineral Water, an initiative aimed at creating jobs through local production. He also discussed his efforts to promote tourism in the area by revitalizing the Kundum Festival and creating an inter-tribal cultural event to be known as \u201cSalafist,\u201d aimed at celebrating the diversity of the 15 tribes in the region.<\/p>\n

The MP also expressed concern about the water situation in the constituency, citing the impact of illegal mining (Galamsey) on water supply. Many residents, including the MP himself, have been forced to rely on boreholes and mechanized water systems due to poor water quality.<\/p>\n

Hon. Buckman closed by expressing gratitude to his constituents, particularly the youth, women, and chiefs, for their ongoing support.<\/p>\n

He assured them, \u201cI will never disappoint you. I will work tirelessly to fulfill the promises I made during my campaign, from youth employment to flood mitigation. I ask for your continued prayers and support as we move forward together.\u201d<\/p>\n
