The Member of Parliament for Madina, Hon. Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu, has been officially admitted as a full member of the Coalition for an Effective African Court on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights, commonly referred to as the African Court Coalition.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The announcement was made in an acceptance letter signed by the Coalition\u2019s Coordinator, Madam Sophia Ebby.<\/p>\n

According to the letter, Hon. Sosu\u2019s admission follows his consistent involvement in human rights advocacy and awareness-raising initiatives across national, regional, and continental platforms aimed at promoting the African Court and the broader African human rights system.<\/p>\n

The Ghanaian legislator, a renowned human rights lawyer, will now participate in the Coalition\u2019s various activities which include advocacy, networking, capacity building, and policy shaping through its General Assembly.<\/p>\n

As a full member, Hon. Sosu will have access to: Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns: Engaging in efforts to promote the visibility and understanding of the African Court on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights.<\/p>\n

Networking Opportunities: Collaborating with a wide network of legal professionals and human rights defenders across Africa.<\/p>\n

Capacity Building: Gaining deeper insights into the operations of the African Court and its relationship with other continental human rights organs.<\/p>\n

Policy Influence: Contributing to decisions that shape the future direction of the Coalition.<\/p>\n

Information Access: Receiving regular updates from the African Court, the African Commission on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights (also known as the Banjul Commission), and other regional legal bodies.<\/p>\n

The Coalition also announced that Hon. Sosu would enjoy a 25% discount on this year\u2019s annual membership fee of US$50. Membership dues, which are payable annually, support the Coalition’s goal of maintaining operational independence without over-reliance on donor funding.<\/p>\n

The African Court Coalition\u2019s Secretariat is based at the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) Tower in Arusha, Tanzania, and works closely with seven focal points across the continent to promote and protect human rights within their regions.<\/p>\n

Hon. Sosu’s admission into the Coalition underscores his continued commitment to championing justice and human rights across Africa.<\/p>\n
