In a renewed commitment to combat corruption and promote good governance, Ghana\u2019s Parliament has strengthened its collaboration with Key Accountability Institutions (KAI), unveiling a comprehensive plan aimed at fostering transparency, ethical leadership, and integrity in public service.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, at meeting with the Key Accountability Institutions in Accra on Monday, June 9, 2025, emphasized the importance of collective action and institutional synergy in the fight against corruption during a high-level meeting with the heads of KAI at Parliament House on Monday.<\/p>\n

The meeting focused on reviewing the KAI framework, discussing a proposed National Integrity Award Scheme, and finalizing a joint work plan for 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must work diligently to sustain our spirit of collaboration. Our strength lies in unity, and we must not allow those who seek to evade accountability to succeed,\u201d Speaker Bagbin urged.<\/p>\n

The KAI platform comprises critical anti-corruption and accountability bodies including the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), Ghana Police Service, Office of the Special Prosecutor, Audit Service, Financial Intelligence Centre, National Intelligence Bureau, National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP) and the Attorney General\u2019s Department.<\/p>\n

Announcing the initiative on the floor of Parliament earlier on March 29, the Speaker revealed that the National Integrity Award Scheme is designed to promote a culture of integrity by recognizing individuals and institutions that demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability in public life.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis scheme aims to inspire behavioural change and instil a deep sense of responsibility across the public sector and wider society,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

The Speaker further highlighted the necessity of trust and collaboration among public sector institutions to make accountability a visible and achievable goal, rather than an abstract ideal.<\/p>\n

Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, also underscored the vital role of joint institutional efforts. He noted that the KAI platform\u2014guided by a Memorandum of Understanding\u2014seeks to promote synergy, enhance information sharing, and build stronger institutional capacities for fighting corruption.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe National Integrity Award Scheme will celebrate integrity in public service and is a practical demonstration of our shared commitment to good governance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
