{"id":21394,"date":"2025-07-17T19:54:43","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T19:54:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=21394"},"modified":"2025-07-17T19:54:43","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T19:54:43","slug":"offinso-north-mp-calls-for-nationwide-policy-for-mandatory-periodic-health-checkups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=21394","title":{"rendered":"Offinso North MP calls for Nationwide Policy for Mandatory Periodic Health Checkups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, Member of Parliament for Offinso North, has called for a national policy that mandates annual medical checkups for all adult Ghanaians, especially city dwellers and public officials.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking passionately on the matter, Dr. Asamoah stressed that non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease are on a troubling rise in the country, often going undetected until it is too late.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll I\u2019m advocating for is a national policy that ensures every Ghanaian undergoes an annual wellness visit to check their health status.<\/p>\n<p>Conditions like high blood pressure, elevated sugar levels, and cholesterol imbalances don\u2019t just appear overnight\u2014they build up silently over time,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, fear of diagnosis keeps many people away from medical checkups, despite the fact that early detection can lead to timely intervention and save lives.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cPeople are afraid of being told they have hypertension or diabetes.
