The Convenor of the One Ghana Movement, Senyo Hosi, has lauded the Minister of Communication, Digital Innovation and Technology, Sam George, for his decision to make the draft Cyber Security Amendment Bill available to the public for review and feedback.<\/strong><\/p>\n

His commendation comes amid an ongoing national debate over the proposed amendments. While some, including Ofoase-Ayirebi MP Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, have raised concerns that the bill could threaten free speech, others have welcomed the government\u2019s open and consultative approach.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Citi FM\u2019s \u201cThe Big Issue\u201d on Saturday, November 1, Hosi described the move as a refreshing shift in how government engages with citizens on policymaking.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been the first time in quite a long while that we\u2019ve seen something like this,\u201d he said. \u201cThe Minister of Communication officially released the draft bill to the public and even provided QR codes for people to submit their feedback and make inputs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hosi noted that such openness in the legislative process has been rare in Ghana\u2019s recent governance history.<\/p>\n

\u201cI asked myself\u2014when was the last time we had a draft bill presented first to the people for our official input in such a transparent manner?\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

He praised Sam George for setting a new standard for inclusive governance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m impressed by what Sam George has done. Whether or not you like him, his approach deserves commendation. He\u2019s opened the doors for all of us to take part in the process\u2014and that\u2019s how policymaking ought to be,\u201d Hosi emphasized.<\/p>\n

According to Hosi, this initiative demonstrates a strong commitment to transparency and accountability, values enshrined in Ghana\u2019s constitutional principles.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf policy is now being developed openly, without leaks to civil society groups or the media, it shows progress,\u201d he said. \u201cThis level of transparency and accountability, as required under the directive principles of state policy, must be acknowledged\u2014and for that, Sam George, I salute you.\u201d<\/p>\n
