The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akuapem South constituency, Hon. Lawrencia Dziwornu, has issued a passionate call to school children to prioritize their education as the foundation for becoming responsible and impactful citizens.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MP\u00a0 made the call during an interactive session with over 60 students from the Konkonuru Methodist Junior High School (JHS) in Aburi, who visited Parliament to gain firsthand insight into the workings of the nation\u2019s legislative body.<\/p>\n

Addressing the visiting students and their teachers, Hon. Dziwornu emphasized that the modern world is fundamentally driven by educational\u00a0 knowledge.<\/p>\n

She noted that this reality underpins her commitment as the MP strategic decision to invest heavily in the education sector\u00a0 in the constituency.<\/p>\n

Beyond academic excellence, the lawmaker also touched on modern challenges, advising the youth to navigate social media with wisdom and avoid the pitfalls of digital abuse.<\/p>\n

A significant portion of the interaction was dedicated to civic education, where Hon. Dziwornu sought to educate the students on the key roles of Parliament, the Speakers a d others as they witness the parliamentary proceeding.<\/p>\n

She clarified that in Ghana, no individual\u2014including the President\u2014is above the law.<\/p>\n

Hon Dziwornu urged the students to dismiss the common perception that Members of Parliament enjoy absolute legal immunity.<\/p>\n

She explained that while MPs are immune from interfering during the performance of their lawmaking duties to ensure the legislative process remains uninterrupted, they are still subject to the law and can be prosecuted if the Speaker of Parliament is formally notified.<\/p>\n

The students also received words of encouragement from the MP for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Faustina Eliklim Akurugi.<\/p>\n

She challenged the young visitors to aim for the highest rungs of the educational ladder, reminding them that the path to the chamber of Parliament is paved with hard work and discipline.<\/p>\n

Hon. Akurugu noted that with the right focus, many of the students present could one day return to parliament not as visitors, but as representatives of their own communities.<\/p>\n
