In a major move to stimulate the local economy and alleviate poverty, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has unveiled the “Grand Business support\u00a0 Initiative.”\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The program, witnessed\u00a0 a massive distribution of equipment\u00a0 and capital at Osu Presby, is designed to transform the lives of hundreds of constituents by moving them from dependency to sustainable self-employment.<\/p>\n

The intervention provided a substantial resource boost to the constituency\u2019s informal sector. Over 500 beneficiaries received comprehensive support packages consisting of 200 sewing machines, 200 hair dryers, 30 freezers, and several laptops.<\/p>\n

Recognizing that equipment alone is often not enough to launch a business, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings also disbursed GH\u20b52,000 in cash to each recipient to serve as critical startup or expansion capital.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A Decade of Quiet Impact<\/strong><\/p>\n

While the scale of this latest\u00a0 event was unprecedented, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings clarified that her commitment to constituent empowerment is a long-standing mission.<\/p>\n

Since entering Parliament in 2017, she has consistently funded social interventions, including school desk donations, healthcare screenings for over 10,000 residents, and the disbursement of over GH\u20b5250,000 in scholarships.<\/p>\n

She noted that while much of this support was previously handled on an individual, quiet basis, the decision to transition to bulk public presentations was strategic.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

“The decision to organize the donation in bulk is to increase awareness and ensure more constituents are able to access the available support,” she explained.<\/p>\n

By making the process public, the MP hopes to demystify the application process and encourage those in need of vocational support to step forward.<\/p>\n

\u00a0From Vocational Training to Economic Freedom<\/strong><\/p>\n

The initiative specifically targets the “equipment gap”\u2014a common hurdle where individuals complete vocational training but remain unemployed because they cannot afford the tools of their trade. By providing high-quality sewing machines and hair dryers, the MP is effectively turning trainees into business owners overnight.<\/p>\n

Addressing the beneficiaries , Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized that these tools are a ticket to long-term dignity. “Everything we are doing here is not just for us, it\u2019s for the future,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We are trying to empower you economically so that you can determine your own fate. If you are empowered economically, you don\u2019t need someone giving you money at the last minute; you have your own money.”<\/p>\n

She reminded beneficiaries that the items were funded through taxpayers’ money and must be treated as a sacred trust. She urged the new business owners to maintain their equipment diligently and resisted the temptation to sell the items for a quick, one-time profit.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

“Let us be honest in what we are doing,” the lawmaker urged. “If you have the sewing machine and you use it, you will have a regular income. If you sell it, it\u2019s a one-time sale and that is it; you are not generating income. If you maintain your equipment, it will last. Please, let\u2019s look after the equipment so that it will continue to help us generate income to support our families.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings concluded by reaffirming her dedication to serving with integrity, regardless of political standing. She noted that proper documentation and residency evidence are required for all support to ensure that auditors can verify the lawful use of common funds, stating, “I am here to serve you and I will serve you diligently with dedication, transparency, and accountability.”<\/p>\n

The Grand Business Donation Initiative stands as a testament to her vision of a resilient Korle Klottey, where community members are not just recipients of aid, but active participants in the constituency’s economic growth.<\/p>\n
