Concerns are mounting among Ghanaian football supporters after reports emerged that 147 out of 150 applicants seeking visas to travel to the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup were denied entry permits.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The revelation was made by veteran Ghanaian sports broadcaster and media personality Sannie Daara in a Facebook post on Monday, May 11, sparking widespread reactions among football fans and sports enthusiasts across the country.
\nAccording to Sannie Daara, the group had submitted visa applications on behalf of 150 Ghanaian supporters who intended to travel to the United States to support the Black Stars during the global football showpiece.<\/p>\n

However, only three applicants were reportedly granted visas despite claims that all applicants met the requirements outlined by the US Embassy.
\n\u201cA group sent 150 Ghanaian supporters to the US Embassy for World Cup visas. Only 3 people got approved despite meeting all the requirements set by the US Embassy,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

The embassy didn\u2019t just deny visas; they played a low block, counter-pressed, and eliminated 147 supporters before kick-off.\u201d<\/p>\n

The development has generated debate on social media, with many questioning the high rate of visa denials and expressing fears that genuine Ghanaian supporters could miss the opportunity to cheer on the national team at one of the biggest sporting events in the world.<\/p>\n

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico, is expected to be the largest edition in the tournament\u2019s history.<\/p>\n

For the first time, the competition will feature 48 national teams instead of the traditional 32, increasing the number of matches and participating countries.<\/p>\n

The tournament is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across 16 host cities in North America.
\nGhana is hoping to qualify for the tournament and attract massive support from fans both at home and abroad as the Black Stars seek another memorable World Cup campaign.<\/p>\n
