The Member of Parliament for Akan Constituency, Hon Yao Gomado expressed worry about the falling standards of education in the Constituency.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, recent reports by the Ghana Education Services indicated abysmal performance in the Kadjebi District in the Basic Education Certificate Examination and promised to work hard to reverse the trend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon Gomado made the promise in a statement delivered on his behalf by his personal secretary, Mr Emmanuel Klu, during the presentation of mathematical sets to over 1,426 candidates partaking in the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the BECE performance in the District had not been the best, hence the initiative to help improve it; adding that the MP had earlier organised a mock examination for the BECE candidates as part of his agenda to change the results this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kadjebi District recorded a 19 per cent pass in 2018 BECE, in 2019 scored 19.5 per cent and in 2020 gained a 20.5 per cent pass rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This, the MP through his secretary said could only be changed if students stakeholders intervene to support the school children while encouraging them to take their education seriously and learn hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mathematical Sets and other examination writing materials presented were procured through the MP\u2019s share of the Common Fund for candidates from 58 Junior High Schools in the Kadjebi municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

it is aimed at improving the education standard in the area, especially from the BECE level which served as the foundation of the future of children education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr John Ofori Abrokwa, the Headmaster of Kadjebi D\/A JHS \u201cA\u201d, a beneficiary school; thanked the benefactor for the gesture.

He said, \u201cI was so much impressed because he [MP] was the same person who organised the mock examination for the BECE candidates\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Ofori-Abrokwa said the items would help the students in their examination since most of the parents were unable to purchase the items for their wards.

Ms Gifty Akrasi-Adom, a beneficiary, expressed joy over the items and said they would learn hard to justify the investment made on them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many stakeholders have criticized the falling standards of education in the District, and have called for drastic measures to remedy the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
