{"id":3184,"date":"2021-12-15T16:43:05","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T16:43:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=3184"},"modified":"2021-12-15T21:48:47","modified_gmt":"2021-12-15T21:48:47","slug":"mp-for-chiana-paga-queries-minister-over-chuchuliga-chiana-nakong-road-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=3184","title":{"rendered":"MP for Chiana\/Paga queries Minister over Chuchuliga \u2013 Chiana \u2013 Nakong Road project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Member of Parliament for Chiana\/Paga Constituency, Hon Thomas Adda Dalu has dragged the Minister for Roads and Highways<\/strong> to<strong> Parliament over the abandoned Chuchuliga \u2013 Chiana \u2013 Nakong road project which has been abandoned over the last four years.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the MP, the road which started in 2016 and is expected to be completed in 2018, had been abandoned since the change of government in 2017, thereby making the road inaccessible by residents and travellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Posing a question on the Minister in Parliament on Friday, December 10, 2021, Hon Dalu, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament wanted to know when the Contractor on the stretch of the 11km road would resume work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMr. Speaker, I rise to ask the Minister for Roads and Highways when the contractor working on the Chuchuliga to Chiana trunk road will resume and complete works on the road,\u201d the MP quizzed the Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his response, the sector Minister Hon Kwesi Amoako-Atta said the 11km road forms part of the Navrongo &#8211; Chuchuliga \u2013 Chiana \u2013 Nakong \u2013 Sissily Road, which is a National Road (N13).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, \u201cthe &nbsp;Chuchuliga \u2013 Chiana road is bituminous surfaced and in poor condition,\u201d&nbsp; adding that, the road is currently under construction as part of the project titled \u201cPartial Reconstruction of Navrongo &#8211; Chuchuliga \u2013 Tumu Road (34.23km)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contract, he explained was awarded in July 2016 and works commenced on 19th September 2016 and was originally scheduled for completion on 18th September 2018, but the completion date was extended to 17th September 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMr Speaker, the Contractor has completed drainage, pavement, primer seal and seal works on the Navrongo to Chuchuliga section up to km 10. However, on the Chuchuliga \u2013 Chiana section, the Contractor has completed roadside clearing, scarification of existing bituminous surface, cross drainage (culverts) and 400m of U-drains,\u201d the Minister stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover aligncenter is-light\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__gradient-background has-background-dim\"><\/span><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"682\" height=\"1024\" class=\"wp-block-cover__image-background wp-image-2363\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/FB_IMG_1637069006722-682x1024.jpg\" data-object-fit=\"cover\" srcset=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/FB_IMG_1637069006722-682x1024.jpg 682w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/FB_IMG_1637069006722-600x900.jpg 600w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/FB_IMG_1637069006722-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/FB_IMG_1637069006722.jpg 715w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px\" \/><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-cover-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong><em>HON THOMAS DALU<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that, that the Contractor has completed the number of culverts from the Chiana to Nakong end of the project as the progress of work is estimated at 40% physically complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hon Amoako-Atta further noted that \u201cthe Contractor has vacated site due to delay in payment for work done and several warning letters have been issued to the Contractor to return to a site.
