{"id":3442,"date":"2021-12-29T22:42:28","date_gmt":"2021-12-29T22:42:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/2021\/12\/29\/abide-by-sc-ruling-govt-tells-bawku-chieftaincy-feuding-factions\/"},"modified":"2021-12-30T16:42:39","modified_gmt":"2021-12-30T16:42:39","slug":"abide-by-sc-ruling-govt-tells-bawku-chieftaincy-feuding-factions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=3442","title":{"rendered":"Abide by SC ruling- Govt tells Bawku Chieftaincy Feuding factions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The government has reminded the feuding factions in the Bawku Chieftaincy dispute to abide by the Supreme Court ruling on the matter and desist from actions and inactions that could reignite violence in the area.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A statement by the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and copied to EXPRESSNEWSGHANA, said the President, Nana Akufo Addo has asked the Minister responsible of Chieftaincy , Hon Ebenezer Kojo Kum to draw attention of all stakeholders in the Bawku Traditional Area to desist from making public Comments that would further escalate the tension and endanger peace in the area and the country as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><\/p><cite>&#8220;<strong><em>The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has instructed the Minister for Chieftaincy Hon Kojo Kum (MP) to draw urgently the attention of all stakeholders in the Bawku impasse to desist from actions and pronouncements that can further escalate tensions and violence in the area.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Claims that Bawku does not have an overlord and attempts to install a new Bawku Naba run contrary to the already determined position by the Supreme Court on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"719\" height=\"621\" src=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/FB_IMG_1640816735890.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/FB_IMG_1640816735890.jpg 719w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/FB_IMG_1640816735890-600x518.jpg 600w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/FB_IMG_1640816735890-300x259.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 719px) 100vw, 719px\" \/><figcaption><strong><em>Hon Ebenezer Kojo Kum<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The status of the Paramount Chief of Bawku has been settled by the Supreme Court of Ghana in the celebrated case in April 2003.<br \/>Indeed, judgements of the Supreme Court, the highest court of the land, are meant to be complied with and not subject to the opinions of any individuals or group to pick and choose whether to abide by the judgments or not. As a matter of fact, until or unless a decision of the Supreme Court is varied or set aside, that decision is binding on all persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It is our expectation that all parties will abide by the decision of the Supreme Court and let peace prevail in Bawku.
