{"id":3522,"date":"2022-01-06T15:26:25","date_gmt":"2022-01-06T15:26:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/2022\/01\/06\/ato-forson-response-to-ag-over-malicious-prosection\/"},"modified":"2022-01-06T16:02:58","modified_gmt":"2022-01-06T16:02:58","slug":"ato-forson-response-to-ag-over-malicious-prosection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=3522","title":{"rendered":"Ato Forson response to AG over malicious Prosecution"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>I have noted a statement issued by a Deputy Attorney General claiming that by speaking out against the malice and deliberate political persecution inherent in the decision to prosecute me, I am exposing the Attorney General to \u201chate\u201d and \u201cprejudice\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wish to state that the Attorney General\u2019s office cannot determine my reaction to the sinister plot to needlessly tarnish my reputation and rob me of my liberty simply because I remain implacably opposed to the poor economic policies of this government and in particular the E-Levy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is the Attorney General who is driven by hate, prejudice and demagoguery! He is the one abusing his prosecutorial powers to silence critical political opponents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance on Paragraph 7 of the AG\u2019s statement issued yesterday, it was claimed that;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"330\" src=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/1026202183607-1i841p5cbv-ato-forson-765x510-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3419\" srcset=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/1026202183607-1i841p5cbv-ato-forson-765x510-1.jpg 500w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/1026202183607-1i841p5cbv-ato-forson-765x510-1-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption><strong>ATO FORSON<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As stated in the facts of the case filed in court on 22nd December, 2011, cabinet endorsed an executive approval of a joint memorandum submitted to cabinet by the then Minister for Health and the first accused Cassiel Ato Forson, then Deputy Minister for Finance, for the purchase of 200 ambulances out of a medium term credit facility of \u20ac15,800,000 between Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited and the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Finance.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the avoidance of doubt , the Cabinet memo for the purchase of the Ambulances was submitted in December,2011. I became a Deputy minister on the 2nd of May 2013.
