{"id":5209,"date":"2022-03-14T13:23:11","date_gmt":"2022-03-14T13:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=5209"},"modified":"2022-03-14T13:29:47","modified_gmt":"2022-03-14T13:29:47","slug":"court-to-decide-oliver-barker-bail-on-wednesday-march-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=5209","title":{"rendered":"Court to decide Oliver Barker Bail on Wednesday, March 16"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Tema High Court has adjourned the ruling of the bail application of #FixTheCountry\u2019s lead convener Oliver Barker-Vormawor to Wednesday, March 16.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lead counsel of the accused Akoto Ampaw argued that the post by his client on social media was a conditional phrase that he shared as a viewpoint with respect to coups in the subregion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted that the post did not constitute a crime by Ghana\u2019s laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawyer Akoto Ampaw added that Mr. Barker-Vormawor is not a flight risk as alleged by the Attorney-General since his passport is with the prosecution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Senior State Attorney Hilda Craig told the court that the accused\u2019s social media post showed a statement of intent, which he followed through by coming to Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"361\" src=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/11371126.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/11371126.jpg 600w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/11371126-300x181.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption>OLIVER BARKER<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>She noted that the #FixTheCountry convenor does not have a fixed abode in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also told the court that Barker-Vormawor\u2019s \u201cabusive\u201d attitude while in custody was evidence that when granted bail, he would not assist with investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commenting on having the accused\u2019s passport in possession, the Senior State Attorney told the court that many people traveled outside the country using unapproved routes and hence the accused was still a flight risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presiding judge Daniel Mensah consequently adjourned the ruling on the application after hearing both parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Source:3news<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Tema High Court has adjourned the ruling of the bail application of #FixTheCountry\u2019s lead convener Oliver Barker-Vormawor to Wednesday, March 16.
