The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Henry Quartey accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Mrs Elizabeth Sackey and other government officials have donated food items and an undisclosed cash to the Nungua Traditional Council to support the 2022 annual Kpledjoo festival of the Chiefs and people of Nungua in the Greater Accra Region.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The items include bags of maize, gallons of palm oil, packs of bottled water, assorted drinks among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presenting the items, Mr. Henry Quartey expressed his sincere thanks to the elders of the Nungua traditional area for the peaceful co-existence within the rank and file of the community, saying \u201cin unity lies strength\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the traditional customs of the people of Ga-Dangbe be continued and urged traditional leaders of the Ga State to live in peace and harmony adding that \u201cthey must demonstrate these social values in their respective communities and it is in the that respect that the delegation finds it prudent to visit the community and support them of this year annual Kpledjoo festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He advised the youth to celebrate the occasion in moderation and urged them to exhibit sound moral character during the celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Regional Minister added that it has always been the wish and desire of the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to see the Ga community making progress in every working endeavour particularly referring to his youthful days at Swalaba, a community in James Town in Accra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Quartey urged the Chiefs and people to use the celebration to forge peace and also iron out their differences and live in a united front by demonstrating brotherliness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For her part, the Chief Executive Officer of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Mrs Elizabeth Sackey congratulated the Chief Priest, Gbobu Wulomo for playing a lead role in ensuring that unity and peace always prevails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy outfit and the traditional council have good working relations and I applauded the Chief priest for his cooperation on issues of development of the traditional area\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She advised community members to relegate their differences to the background and put in place initiatives and programmes to uplift the dignity of the people to a new level of advancement in all human endeavours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Paramount Chief of the Nungua Traditional Area, Prof. King Odaifio Welentsi III described the Regional Minister as the Landlord of Accra and urged all traditional authorities to observe as such and pointed out that \u201cno chief can adequately operate without his support\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He urged all government appointees to cooperate with him in all his brilliant ideas, concepts, programmes, initiatives in transforming Accra into an ultra-modern city and the Ga state will witness growth and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He advised the Regional Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central to occasionally engage all Ga-Dangbe MPs on one common platform to bring to bear the development of the Ga State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Paramount Chief urged the Regional Minister to engage traditional leaders in the Ga communities over the multiple and rampant sale of lands by unscrupulous persons which leads to land disputes and litigation and appealed to him to periodically engage the chiefs on issues behind closed doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe traditional council is once again appealing to government to release back lands to the people of Nungua of which have not been used for a long time for other development purposed by the Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Joshua Nii Bortey, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), thanked the Greater Accra Regional Minister and his entourage for the kind gesture and urged other bodies to emulate the shining example of government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
