{"id":6772,"date":"2022-07-21T11:10:22","date_gmt":"2022-07-21T11:10:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=6772"},"modified":"2022-07-21T11:10:35","modified_gmt":"2022-07-21T11:10:35","slug":"the-government-needs-a-1bn-loan-to-pay-salaries-debts-kwaku-kwarteng","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=6772","title":{"rendered":"The government needs a $1bn loan to pay salaries debts \u2013 Kwaku Kwarteng"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Chairman of Parliament\u2019s Finance Committee, Kweku  Kwarteng the government needs the approval of the $1bn loan by Parliament to pay salaries and deal with other critical commitments.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Kwaku Kwarteng, the loan before Parliament will also assist the country meet its debt obligations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Minority in Parliament has stalled the passage of the loan for weeks now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to them, the government has not said what the funds would be used for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They, therefore, want the government to provide the committee with full documentation on what exactly the money would be used for to enable them to make a meaningful decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"470\" src=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Kwaku-Kwarteng.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6773\" srcset=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Kwaku-Kwarteng.jpg 720w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Kwaku-Kwarteng-600x392.jpg 600w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Kwaku-Kwarteng-300x196.jpg 300w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Kwaku-Kwarteng-320x209.jpg 320w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Kwaku-Kwarteng-480x313.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the Obuasi West legislator insists that the loan is critical for the country\u2019s short-term survival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe will need to pay our salaries we will need to service our debt.
