The Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi East Constituency in Western Region Region, Hon Nicholas Amankwah has dragged the the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources to Parliament over lack of access to drinking water in eight Communities within the Constituency.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The over eight communities, according to the MP have no access to drinking water and relied on old unserviced boreholes and streams for water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, the MP summoned the sector Minister, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah to parliament to known when government will extend water supply to the Communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that government. Ought to iinter:en to reduce the risk of his constituents getting disease as a result of drinking unhygienic water from.streams and rivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Amamkwa revealed this after he asked the sector Minister, Madam Cecilia Abena Daapah, on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, 20th July, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\u201cMr. Speaker, I rise to ask the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources what steps the Ministry is taking to provide potable water to the following communities in the Amenfi East Constituency; Dadieso, Adiembra, Domeabra, Adesu, Dompoase, Nchiase, Adjumako, and Boyekrom thank you,” he asked the Minister.<\/em><\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In response to the questions, the sector Minister, Hon Abena Dapaah said the affected communities were provided with borehole facilities to enable them to have access to safe water, but due to population increase water supply from the functional water facilities could not meet the current water demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, she said in 2014, the Dadieso community was proposed to get water supply from Wassa Japa water system under the international development Agency\u2019s Sustainable Rural water and sanitation project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the sector minister was quick to add that the capital cost for transmission pipelines was huge due to high gravity supply from Japa to Dadieso making it not economical advisable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister assured that the people of Wassa Amenfi East would see much improvement in water supply in the 2023 budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMr. Speaker, the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources through the Community Water and Sanitation Agency has made provision in the 2023 budget to also rehabilitate and provide new water supply facilities,\u201d Hon Abena Dapaah added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
