\u00a0\u00a0As part of his social intervention policies to mitigate the economic hardship for his constituents, especially the youth the Member of Parliament for North Tongu in the Volta Region, Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah has secured employment for about 97 beneficiaries of the Nation Builders Corps\u00a0 (NaBCo)\u00a0 after their contract with the Government had expired on Thursday, September 1, 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The \u00a097 NABCo recruits were part of thousands of beneficiaries graduates who will officially be redundant effective today, September 1, 2022, following the programme’s expiration.<\/p>\n

However, the North Tongu lawmaker made a special intervention and have them gain employment with Sinostone Bioethanol Manufacturing Ltd (SBML), a private investment company in the North Tongu Constituency.<\/p>\n

It was made possible due to the MP’s strong lobbying and negotiation with the management of the Chinese firm to absorb the personnel, who would become redundant.<\/p>\n

The government flagship youth programme, the National Builder\u2019s Corps officially ends today, September 1, 2022.<\/p>\n

It was introduced by the Akufo-Addo-led administration in 2017 as part of a job creation plan.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta told Parliament in\u00a0 July 2022, at the mid-year budget review presentation that beneficiaries of the \u2018expired\u2019 programme can take advantage of the YouStart initiative to improve their lot.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr Speaker, our iconic National Builder\u2019s Corps (NABCo) programme, which was initially to run for three years and extended for an additional year, will be completed by 1st September 2022,\u201d<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cAs they exit, the current cohort on the programme is encouraged to take advantage of the YouStart initiative and other existing programmes in our drive to build an Entrepreneurial Nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 97 youth would be working with the company till they find alternative jobs of their interest.<\/p>\n
