Members of Parliament(MPs)\u00a0 from the Volta Region have been commended for their immense contribution, especially with the introduction of pro-poor policies that touched many lives in their constituency in particular and the region as a whole.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Volta Regional Chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) made the commendation in a press statement released on Friday, September 2, 2022.<\/p>\n

According to the party, the 18 MPs have in one way or the other implemented programmes and projects that have directly or indirectly benefited the indigenous and therefore ought to be commended.<\/p>\n

The Volta Region MPs caucus of the NDC is chaired by Hon Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, MP for Ho West.<\/p>\n

The other MPs are Hon Dr James \u00a0Klutse Avedzi, Ketu North, Hon Bernard Ahiafor, Akatsi South, Hon Peter \u00a0Kwesi Nortsu-Kotoe, Akatsi North, Kwame \u00a0Dzodzurli Gakpey,Keta, \u00a0Kwame Governs Agbodza, Adaklu, Hon Richard \u00a0Kwami \u00a0Sefe, Anlo, Hon Benjamin Komla \u00a0Kpodo, Ho Central, Hon Della \u00a0Adjoa Sowah, Kpando, Hon Dzifa \u00a0Abla Gomashie, \u00a0Ketu South and Hon Rockson-Nelson Kwame Etse \u00a0Dafeamekpor, South Dayi.<\/p>\n

The rest of the MPs who work hard to keep their constituents in good health are Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, North Tongu, Hon Alexander Roosevelt Hottordze, Central Tongu, Hon Wisdom Kobla Mensah Woyome, South Tongu, Hon Charles \u00a0Akwasi\u00a0 Agbeve, Agotime-Ziope, Hon Jocelyn Tetteh, \u00a0South Dayi and Hon Angela \u00a0Oforiwa Alorwu-Tay, Afadjato-South.<\/p>\n

Some of the pro-poor programmes that the MPs undertook in recent times to help their constituents include free health screening, especially the Eye and other diseases which cost are absorbed by the legislators.<\/p>\n

VOLTA MPs BOOST NDC CHANCES OF VICTORY IN 2024 BY TOUCHING LIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Volta Chapter of the National Democratic Congress wishes to congratulate all its members of parliament for touching the lives of ordinary Voltarians who would have remained in perpetual blindness as a result of cataracts and other eye defects due to the high cost associated with treating such eye defects.<\/p>\n

The NDC Volta is touched by the veritable testimonies of the beneficiaries from North Tongu, South Tongu, Central Tongu,\u00a0 Akatsi North, Kpando, Keta, Anlo, Hohoe, Agotime Ziope, Afadzato South, Hohoe, Ho Central, Ketu North, Ketu South, Akatsi South, South Dayi, etc.<\/p>\n

By far the most touching testimony is that about a six-month-old baby that was born blind due to cataracts and a sixteen-year-old young lady who gave up her education, having been blind from age three all had their sights successfully restored through one such MPs-sponsored operation.<\/p>\n

The project which amounted close to GHS 200,000 per constituency and was borne by the respective members of parliament,\u00a0 is one huge humanitarian gesture,\u00a0 most likely to boost the electoral fortunes of the NDC in the 2024 general elections since the project did not discriminate against those affected on the basis of their political affliction.<\/p>\n

Never before in the history of the cataract operations in the region,\u00a0 have so many people benefited from such an expensive sight-saving project,\u00a0 at virtually no cost to the individual beneficiaries. This massive social intervention project which the Volta MPs have embarked upon as their social responsibility towards their unfortunate and underprivileged brethren across the eighteen (18) constituencies in the region,\u00a0 is worthy of commendation and emulation.<\/p>\n

Since the roll out of this massive social intervention by the members of parliament,\u00a0 over 56,000 people have been screened, close to 10,000 had surgeries done on them and about\u00a0 15,000 people received spectacles.<\/p>\n

The NDC Volta is particularly grateful to Lifetime Wells Vision,\u00a0 an international NGO and Friends Eye Center from Tamale for partnering with the members of parliament in rolling out this intervention for the benefit of the people of the Volta Region.<\/p>\n
