{"id":8252,"date":"2022-09-12T18:46:16","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T18:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/2022\/09\/12\/attorney-general-attacks-mahama-in-defence-of-judiciary\/"},"modified":"2022-09-12T18:46:16","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T18:46:16","slug":"attorney-general-attacks-mahama-in-defence-of-judiciary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=8252","title":{"rendered":"Attorney General Attacks Mahama in Defence of Judiciary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Attorney General, Godfred Dame<\/strong><br><strong>Attorney-General and Minister for Justice has responded to former President John Mahama\u2019s recent critique of the Judiciary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Godfred Yeboah Dame said the former president has developed the habit of criticising the Judiciary unnecessarily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He described Mr Mahama\u2019s attitude as deplorable and unbecoming of a former Head of State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Your constant attacks on judiciary deplorable, amount to imprudent action&#8217; &#8211; Dame tells Mahama<br \/>Speaking at the Ghana Bar Association\u2019s Annual Conference on Monday, the AG said the nature of Mr Mahama\u2019s comment compelled him to respond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Dame said he is forced to respond due to the fact he is a lawyer and every lawyer must do same to protect the image of the judiciary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am compelled to comment on same in this address because they border on the security of the state and constitute a deliberate pattern of conduct aimed at undermining the independence of the Judiciary, an arm of government whose autonomy is crucial to its proper functioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/10050126.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/10050126.jpg 600w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/10050126-300x211.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>AG, GODFRED DAME<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Your constant attacks on judiciary deplorable, amount to imprudent action&#8217; &#8211; Dame tells Mahama<br \/>Former President, John Dramani Mahama<br \/>\u201cSuch conduct is clearly deplorable, coming from one who has occupied the highest office of President and aspires again to that office.
