Aides have stressed they are subject to last minute changes.<\/p>\n<p>THURSDAY, SEPT. 8<\/p>\n<p><strong>D-Day<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The queen died on Thursday, Sept. 8, aged 96. The day is known as \u201cD-Day\u201d in Operation London Bridge planning.<\/p>\n<p>In London, a notice of the death was placed on the gates outside Buckingham Palace, remaining for 24 hours and visible for people queuing along Constitution Hill, the adjacent road, to file past.<\/p>\n<p>Across the country flags were flown at half-staff in Royal residences, government buildings and military establishments<\/p>\n<p><strong>Balmoral Castle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>London<\/p>\n<p><strong>Balmoral Castle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Scotland<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ballroom<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Queen&#8217;s coffin placed here<\/p>\n<p>Illustration of the Balmoral Castle in Scotland, also showing the ballroom where the queen\u2019s coffin was kept.<\/p>\n<p>FRIDAY, SEPT. 9<\/p>\n<p><strong>A nation begins to mourn<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The government declared a period of national mourning through to the end of the day of the state funeral.<\/p>\n<p>In Scotland, the queen&#8217;s coffin was taken to the ballroom of Balmoral Castle where staff paid their respects.<\/p>\n<p>The new King Charles paid a heartfelt tribute to his late &#8220;darling mama&#8221; Queen Elizabeth in his first televised address to the nation as king, and vowed to serve as monarch with &#8220;loyalty, respect and love&#8221; as she had done for more than seven decades.<\/p>\n<p>Charles paid tribute to his mother for her devotion to her family and to those she reigned over, saying her loss brought great sadness and a &#8220;sense of loss, beyond measure&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>SATURDAY, SEPT. 10<\/p>\n<p><strong>A new king is proclaimed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Accession Council met at St James&#8217;s Palace, the official residence of the sovereign, to formalise Charles&#8217;s position as king and proclaim the successor.<\/p>\n<p>The proclamation was read from the Proclamation Gallery, a balcony above Friary Court of St James&#8217;s Palace, and is accompanied by gun salutes.<\/p>\n<p>A crowd cheered on as David White, the Garter King of Arms, read out the official proclamation. &#8220;Three cheers for Majesty the King,&#8221; the senior herald in England shouted from the balcony, prompting a response of &#8220;hip, hip, hurrah&#8221; from soldiers below.<\/p>\n<p>SUNDAY, SEPT. 11<\/p>\n<p><strong>The queen left Balmoral for the last time<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The queen&#8217;s coffin was driven from Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh, moving slowly on a 6-hour drive via Aberdeen.<\/p>\n<p>It arrived at Holyrood Palace, the monarch&#8217;s official residence in Scotland, where it was met by a military bearer party on the forecourt and taken to the throne room.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Edinburgh<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Abbey<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Church<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>London<\/p>\n<p><strong>Inner Court<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Throne Room<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Located on the ground floor of this part of the palace. The king and other members of the royal family will walk in silence behind.<\/p>\n<p>During the procession, Minute Guns will be fired at Hyde Park and Westminster&#8217;s famous Big Ben bell will toll. Senior members of the royal household, personnel staff of the queen, will be present.<\/p>\n<p>The coffin will enter through the north door at about 3 p.m. A bearer party, likely to be from the 1st Battalion of the Grenadier Guards, will carry the coffin onto the catafalque.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a short service, probably conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury with members of the royal family present.<\/p>\n<p>The lying in state begins and lasts until the day of the state funeral with a vigil conducted around the catafalque. Early evening, he will hold a reception with all the visiting heads of state, prime ministers and governor generals.<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth&#8217;s grandchildren might stand vigil at Westminster Hall.<\/p>\n<p>MONDAY, SEPT. 19<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Funeral<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The day of the queen&#8217;s funeral. Many shops are expected to close and the London Stock Market will be shut. At 8.30 a.m., Westminster Hall will be cleared ending the lying in state.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly afterwards, the congregation, expected to include nearly all the world&#8217;s leaders, will start arriving at Westminster Abbey.<\/p>\n<p>At 10.45 a.m, the coffin will be placed on the state gun carriage and taken from the Palace of Westminster a short distance over the road to Westminster Abbey.
