{"id":8958,"date":"2022-10-26T09:02:03","date_gmt":"2022-10-26T09:02:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=8958"},"modified":"2022-10-26T09:02:03","modified_gmt":"2022-10-26T09:02:03","slug":"parliament-to-invite-ken-ofori-atta-bog-boss-over-epilepsy-economy-minority-leader","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=8958","title":{"rendered":"Parliament to Invite Ken Ofori Atta, BoG boss \u00a0over &#8216;Epilepsy&#8217; Economy- Minority Leader"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The <\/strong><strong>Minority Leader of Parliament, Hon\u00a0 Haruna Iddrisu has urged Parliament to invite the Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) Dr Ernest Addison to appear before the House to explain to them the measures that have been put in place to deal with the economic challenges.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Mr Iddrisu stated on the floor of the House on Tuesday, October 25 that the challenges are becoming unbearable to Ghanaians hence, the need to invite the Finance Minister and the Governor of the BoG to address the House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana is to appear in Parliament to explain the measures that have been put in place to resolve the economic challenges,\u201d the Tamale South lawmaker said.<\/p>\n<p>This comes at a time some Members of Parliament on the side of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have asked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sack the Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta and the Minister of State in charge of Finance Charles Adu Boahen.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP lawmakers who made the call said they will not be part of the 2023 budget hearing and debate if the President fails to act on their request.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a press conference in Parliament on Tuesday, October 25, a lawmaker for Asante Akyem North, Andy Appiah Kubi said \u201cWe are unhappy with the developments in the country; we consulted our constituents who also expressed the same sentiments.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8959\" src=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Ken-Ofori-Atta-Dr-Ernest-Addison-and-Charles-Adu-Boahen-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"ken ,addison,charles\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Ken-Ofori-Atta-Dr-Ernest-Addison-and-Charles-Adu-Boahen-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Ken-Ofori-Atta-Dr-Ernest-Addison-and-Charles-Adu-Boahen.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want the President to remove Ken Ofori and Chares Adu Boahen. We are by this medium communicating our strong desire that the President changes the Minister of Finance and the Minister of State in the Finance Ministry without further delay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to serve notice, and notice is hereby served that until such persons as aforementioned are made to resign or removed from office, we members of the Majority Caucus here in Parliament will not participate in any business of Government by or, for the president by any other Minster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope that those of us in the back bench and members of the Majority caucus will abide by this prayer.
