{"id":9067,"date":"2022-11-04T08:38:42","date_gmt":"2022-11-04T08:38:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=9067"},"modified":"2022-11-04T08:38:47","modified_gmt":"2022-11-04T08:38:47","slug":"ndc-had-the-best-economic-management-since-independent-dr-duffour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=9067","title":{"rendered":"NDC had the Best Economic Management since Independent -Dr Duffour"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>A former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Kwabena Duffour, has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) performance of the years had proven to be the best manager of Ghana&#8217; economy since independent.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, the country Always experience economic stability whenever the parry is in power and proven that when.he was the Minister for Finance and economic planning between 2009 to 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said it was the NDC regime that Ghana achieved a single digit inflation and a stable depreciation of the cedi since independent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Duffour made the comment when he declared to contest for the flagbearer position of the NDC when nominations open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The former Finance Minister under the Mills administration from 2009 to 2012 made the declaration at the Press Centre in Accra on Thursday, November 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the decision to run for president is borne out of a desire to see an improvement in the living standards of the average Ghanaian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"148\" height=\"120\" src=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/duffour7E2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9066\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Dr k.Duffour<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur economy is in shambles, the youth are unemployed, and they are very desperate. Ghanaians everywhere are going through very difficult times. We are lacking the most basic necessity of life, this is not what our founding fathers envisaged for us. We are in difficulty and I want to inform you that the time for change is now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTherefore, I am announcing my intention to contest the flagbeareship of the National Democratic congress anytime the party opens nominations. I will offer myself once again to serve the land of my birth with humility and sacrifice when given the chance to do so,\u201d the businessman said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duffuor is the founder and chairman of HODA Holdings, a business entity comprising Insurance, Banking, Real Estate, Farming, Mining and Media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is also the founder and president of the Institute for Fiscal Studies in Ghana, a non-profit think-tank providing economic advocacy and training, which he established in March 2013. He was also the founder of uniBank which controversially collapsed in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kwabena Duffuor had his secondary education at the Prempeh College at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He proceeded to the University of Ghana, where he graduated in 1968 with a B.Sc. degree in economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His postgraduate studies were at Syracuse University in New York, United States, where he obtained a Master in Business Administration degree in Finance and Banking and a Master of Arts in Economics in 1975.
