{"id":9710,"date":"2022-12-20T17:21:44","date_gmt":"2022-12-20T17:21:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/2022\/12\/20\/pension-funds-not-for-domestic-debt-exchange-programme-clogsag-warns-govt\/"},"modified":"2022-12-20T17:21:44","modified_gmt":"2022-12-20T17:21:44","slug":"pension-funds-not-for-domestic-debt-exchange-programme-clogsag-warns-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=9710","title":{"rendered":"Pension Funds not for Domestic Debt Exchange Programme, CLOGSAG warns Govt"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Civil and Local Government Staff, (CLOGSAG) has said that \u201cPer Section 102 on Protection of accrued benefits of a member in an occupational pension scheme, funds in that regard cannot be used for Domestic Debt Exchange Programme\u201d, as stated by the Ministry of Finance.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CLOGSAG was referring to a statement by the Finance Ministry on the 4th December, 2022 during the launch of the Ghana\u2019s Domestic Debt Exchange by government as part of the drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Association, the statement have expressed worry and discussions among public sector workers leading to various interpretations in the Pensions space following the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At a news conference in Accra, the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, Mr. Isaac Bampoe Addo said the scheme does not tie into the said programme and further pointed out that individual contributions and earnings of the fund is vested in the individual and not the<br>Trustee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1080\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG-20221220-WA0057.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9709\" srcset=\"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG-20221220-WA0057.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG-20221220-WA0057-600x356.jpg 600w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG-20221220-WA0057-300x178.jpg 300w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG-20221220-WA0057-1024x608.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG-20221220-WA0057-768x456.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe state categorically that Pension Funds are individual investments and per the pronouncement by the Hon.
