As part of his social intervention policies to end the acute water problem in his constituency, the Member of Parliament for Dormaa West, Hon Vincent Oppong Asamoah has launched a full scale of mechanized and drilled boreholes as well as sunk Wells in deprived communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So far, he has drilled and mechanized over 25 boreholes and sunk Wells under the \u201cWater for Life Project\u201d <\/em><\/strong>and pledged his commitment to ensure that the constituency achieved 100 percent water coverage by the end of his tenure as MP for the constituency.<\/p>\n

Hon Oppong Asamoah who is the Ranking of the Works and Housing Committee of Parliament told EXPRESSNEWSGHANA via mobile phone <\/em><\/strong>that, access to drinking water was not only a necessity but a basic human right that no Ghanaian, especially his constituent should be denied.<\/p>\n

He assured that he would do everything humanely possible to ensure that every community or hamlet in the Dormaa West Constituency access potable drinking water, stressing that, \u201cI cannot see my people continue to scramble for water with animals in rivers and streams.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some beneficiary communities include Diabaakrom, Bredi Akotokrom, Brofoyedu, Kyekyewere,Kwabenakrakrom, Tekukrom, Nkwantaso, Beposo Frimponkrom, Adimmra \u00a0Nkotomire, Asuotam,SofoK,Dormaa Agogo and Kwanto.<\/p>\n

The rest of the communities are Addokrom, Kwakuanya, Wamline\u00a0 Nkrankwanta,Nkrakwanta Zongo,Nkrakwanta OPP.Hospital, Nkrakwanta Magazine,Krakrom, Tiiga Akuraa and Adiemmra Zezera.<\/p>\n

Recently, the MP through his \u201cWater for Life Project\u201d extended<\/em><\/strong> the borehole drilling to Kwanto and Amadukrom, whiles some are ongoing in Darkokrom and Bredi-Yaakrom.<\/p>\n

The vibrant and affable lawmaker explained that he prioritized the provision of water in the Constituency since he became MP and promised to ensure that all deprived and underserved communities benefit from the boreholes.<\/p>\n

Potable drinking water, Hon Oppong Asamoah said is a lifelong commodity that should be made available to every household in the constituency, emphasizing that, I have no excuse to deny my constituents potable drinking water. I will do my possible best to ensure that there is access and regular flow of water in all the communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

He expressed the hope that by the end of his tenure in 2024, he had drilled about 100 mechanized boreholes, solid for all to notice, stating, \u201cSo far I have drilled, mechanized, and sunk well for about 25 communities and I remained committed\u00a0 to drilling more to cover the entire constituency.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the MP, residents of the beneficial communities expressed gratitude to him for the water projects and hope that through his intervention; development challenges in their communities would be addressed to make life better for them.<\/p>\n

The population of Dormaa West District, according to the 2010 Population and Housing Census, is over 47,678 representing 2.1 percent of the total population of the Bono Region.<\/p>\n

Access to water is about 64, 8 %, of which about 42.8% population has access to boreholes and public tap\/standpipes covering 21.9%, which are made of the main sources of drinking water for households.<\/p>\n

The Dormaa West Constituency is located in the western part of the Bono Region. It has its boundaries in the north by the Dormaa Central Municipality, in the east by Asunafo North Municipality, in the west by La Cote d\u2019Ivoire and in the southwest by Bia East District.<\/p>\n

The Constituency which is also a District capital is Nkrankwanta and is located about 125 kilometres away from the regional capital, Sunyani.<\/p>\n
