Chief of Staff Dr. Julius Debrah and Germany’s Ambassador to Ghana, Frederik Landshöft, have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic cooperation between Ghana and Germany, with a particular focus on trade, investment, job creation and sustainable development.
The two officials held a high-level meeting at the seat of government on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, where they discussed ways to translate the longstanding diplomatic relationship between the two countries into tangible economic opportunities for their citizens.
The engagement highlighted the enduring ties between Ghana and Germany, built on mutual respect, shared interests and a common desire to promote inclusive economic growth.
“Ghana and Germany have walked a long path together. This relationship is not defined merely by treaties, but by mutual respect, shared opportunities, and the conviction that we can build more for our people and for future generations,” Dr. Debrah was reported to have said.
The meeting also took a personal turn when Dr. Debrah reflected on cherished memories of Ghana’s late Defence Minister, whose contribution to national service he recalled with fondness.
The Chief of Staff had recently joined other dignitaries and members of the public at the unveiling of a cenotaph in honour of the late minister.
“It was a profound reminder that behind the protocols of diplomacy lie human stories, shared values, and friendships that transcend office and time,” a source familiar with the engagement said.
Looking ahead, the two sides agreed on the need to inject fresh momentum into the Ghana-Germany economic partnership, particularly as several high-level German business delegations are expected to visit Ghana in the coming months.
The upcoming German-African Business Summit in November is also expected to provide a major platform for strengthening commercial ties and attracting new investments into Ghana.
“With several high-level German business delegations slated to visit Ghana in the coming months, and with the German-African Business Summit scheduled for November, the agenda is unequivocal — investment, jobs, and sustainable growth,” the source said.
Dr. Debrah further stressed the importance of partnerships based on mutual respect and shared benefits.
“Germany remains a pivotal partner for Ghana’s industrial transformation. What we need now are partnerships built on trust, respect, and equal footing partnerships that deliver real results for our people,” he emphasised.
Ambassador Landshöft, for his part, reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to expanding its economic footprint in Ghana, particularly in key sectors with the potential to generate employment, stimulate industrial growth and attract sustainable investment.
The two sides are expected to use the upcoming November summit and the planned business engagements to identify new areas of cooperation and unlock opportunities for stronger Ghana-Germany commercial relations.
