Keeping NDC in Power is Our Focus-Yamin, Gbande Files Nominations for Re-election

National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Organiser, Joseph Yamin, has officially filed his nomination to seek re-election, expressing confidence ahead of the party’s national executive elections scheduled for December 19.

Mr Yamin disclosed this at the launch of the NDC Campaign Platform on Wednesday, where he also threw his support behind Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande, describing him as his “co-conspirator” in the party’s political struggles.

“I picked my nomination yesterday, paid the fees, and submitted it. I’m waiting to know my opponents to go into battle,” Mr Yamin declared.

He said his decision to endorse Mr Gbande, who is also seeking re-election, reflected the strong bond between them and their shared commitment to protecting the NDC’s electoral interests.

“This is the first time you see aspirants coming together, and it tells you the bond we have. We work together to forestall the rigging agenda of the NPP,” he stated.

Mr Yamin described the political contest against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as challenging, accusing the opposition party of engaging in what he characterised as political wickedness.

According to him, he was able to confront the NPP’s alleged machinations with the support of Mr Gbande, whom he believes possesses qualities and experience the NDC needs to sustain its political fortunes.

He maintained that Mr Gbande deserved to be retained in office, urging party members to recognise his contribution to the NDC’s political success.

For his part, Mr Gbande reciprocated the endorsement, describing Mr Yamin as a trusted friend and political ally.

“My co-conspirator and friend in whom I’m always pleased,” Mr Gbande said, expressing confidence in their partnership and reaffirming their commitment to ensuring the NDC’s continued stay in power.

Reflecting on his previous contest for the Deputy General Secretary position, Mr Gbande said he entered the race four years ago without financial resources but with a determination to help the NDC return to government.

“For the last four years, I contested the elections when I was nobody. I came without money but with one goal: to bring NDC back to power. My joy is that this country’s future is coming back,” he said.

Mr Gbande also defended his personal integrity, insisting that he had maintained a clean record throughout his political career.

“I am squeaky clean,” he declared, adding that there was no trace of corruption against him.

The mutual endorsements by the two NDC executives come as the party prepares for its December 19 national leadership elections, with candidates seeking to consolidate support among delegates ahead of the internal contest.
