In a high-profile visit demonstrating solidarity and humanitarian outreach, the Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh, visited former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.
Accompanied by constituency executives, the lawmaker presented quantities of food items, bottled water, and essential supplies to bolster the general welfare and feeding of inmates at the correctional facility.
Speaking during the presentation, Mr Annoh-Dompreh emphasized that the gesture was rooted in humanitarian service rather than political considerations.
”Today, I visited Chairman Wontumi at Nsawam Prison and donated food items and bottled water to support the welfare of inmates,” Mr Annoh-Dompreh stated.
“This gesture reflects my commitment to serving humanity and extending support to individuals, irrespective of their current circumstances,” he added.
Officers at the facility expressed gratitude for the donation, acknowledging the MP’s continuous support for the prison.

Annoh-Dompreh’s local prison outreach has previously included funding medical screening exercises and donating maintenance materials to improve living conditions.
Background: Wontumi’s Conviction and 20-Year Sentence
Chairman Wontumi, a prominent political figure and businessman, is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence following his high-profile conviction by an Accra High Court in July 2026.
The court found Boasiako guilty on multiple counts under the Minerals and Mining Act, stemming from illegal mining activities conducted at his company’s concession in Samreboi, in the Western Region.
He was found guilty and convicted for transferring and assigning mineral rights granted to his firm, Akonta Mining Company Limited, to unauthorized third parties without receiving required prior written approval from the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.
The court established that Mr Bosiako intentionally facilitated third parties to engage in illegal mining operations—commonly referred to as galamsey—on the Samreboi concession.
Alongside the custodial sentence, the Accra High Court imposed a fine of GH¢120,000 on the former regional party chairman, ruling that the prosecution had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt on all charges.
He has since filed for bail pending an appeal against his conviction
Inspection of Constituency Infrastructure Projects
Following his visit to the prison, Mr Annoh-Dompreh carried out field inspections of local infrastructure projects within the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency.
He visited Nana Osae Gyan Basic School, where he inspected the progress of an ongoing construction project for a community football pitch.

During the visit, he also assessed land earmarked for the construction of ultra-modern classroom blocks.
Addressing school officials and community members, the MP reaffirmed his dedicated focus on improving social infrastructure across his constituency.
”Improving educational facilities and creating a conducive learning environment for our youth remains a central priority. These inspections are to ensure progress on facility developments that directly impact the future of our students and the broader community,” he said.
The dual engagements highlight the lawmaker’s ongoing focus on community development, educational infrastructure, and humanitarian interventions.
