Bloodbath is looming at Adjena within the Akwamu Traditional Area of the Eastern Region following attempts to enstool a rival chief for the town.
Adjena has a legitimate Chief, Nana Twum Barimah III, but some forces have enstooled one Kwaku Asare as the Adjenahene with brute force.
Some hoodlums have taken over the whole Adjena township and are working to bring Kwaku Asare to the town.
Several gunshots were reportedly heard at Adjena yesterday, with the residents running for cover.
The hoodlums were allegedly led by one Nii Armah, popularly known as ‘Costi’, using vehicles with registration numbers GT781-25, GN6067-22, GN3599-21 and GE657-18.
There are allegations that the Akwamuhene, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, Adumasahene, Nana Ansah Kwaw IV are the masterminds behind the enrollment of Kwaku Asare under the stool name Osaberima Appiah Boadu II.
The legitimate Adjenahene, Nana Twum Barimah II, has placed a distress call on the security agencies to help bring the deadly situation under control.
According to him, there have been gunshots in Adjena since October 8, 2026 and the situation is likely to get nasty with the attempts by the Akwamuhene to bring the rival to Adjena tomorrow.
Independent checks have revealed that the incident has been reported to the Eastern Regional Police Command, but the bandits are still roaming the Adjena township with weapons amidst firing.
