A Woman of Principle”: Justice Atuguba Highlights Dr. Zanetor’s Integrity in Politics
Retired Supreme Court Justice William Atuguba has publicly questioned why Klottey Korle Member of Parliament, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has not been appointed to President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial team, describing her as a principled and dedicated leader who deserves a higher national role.
Speaking at the D.F. Annan Memorial Lecture in Parliament, Justice Atuguba praised Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings’ leadership qualities, saying she exemplifies the kind of politician Ghana needs.
“Somebody like Zanetor Rawlings, she’s not a politician; she’s a woman of the people. I’ve been following her activities. I don’t know, I’ve never spoken to her, never met her, but I’m convinced that that’s the kind of politician people should aspire to be,” he said.
Justice Atuguba expressed surprise that the Klottey Korle MP has yet to receive a ministerial appointment under President Mahama’s administration, insisting that her competence and integrity make her well-suited for such responsibility.

“Until now, and that’s why I don’t get involved in politics, I don’t know why she’s not yet a minister. I hope by saying that, I’ve not destroyed her chances,” he remarked, drawing laughter from the audience.
The retired jurist also dismissed suggestions that Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings should only be considered for a deputy ministerial position, arguing that she is capable of serving as a substantive minister.
“From social media, sometimes they even announce that she can be deputy [minister] of health. I say, oh, she could even be substantive… why not? Why not?” he stated.
Justice Atuguba concluded by commending Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings for her integrity, dedication, and commitment to public service, describing her as “a woman of principle, of dedication, of integrity,” and questioning why those qualities had not yet translated into a ministerial appointment.
His remarks have reignited public conversation about Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings’ role in government and whether she could feature in any future ministerial reshuffle.
