A member of the national Communication team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Afful has charged the Minority caucus in parliament not to allow the recent reshuffle of leadership to affect their unity to achieve electoral victory in 2024.

According to him, the 2024 election should be the focus to capture power to free Ghanaians from the abject of poverty.

Mr Afful made the call in an interview with EXPRESSNEWSGHANA in Accra.

He said the reshuffle of the leadership though bad in timely, it is also a strategy for the party to strengthen the forces to hold the government accountable.

The trio were replaced by Dr Ato Forson, Kofi Armah Buah and Kwame Agbodza respectively .

But the sudden reshuffle generated a lot of internal misunderstanding as most of the party Maps and supporters believed the changes was a “coup ” as they were not consulted.

Nonetheless, intervention by former President John Mahama and council of Elders of the party resolved the issues for the new Minority leaders to take over.

The new Minority Leaders on Tuesday, February 7, officially assumed their position as stated by the party functional executives.

Commenting on the matter, Mr Afful who is lacing his boots to contest the Weija-Gbawe NDC parliamentary primaries called for unity among the Minority to prosecute the 2024 victory agenda.

In his view, ” at this material time , who lead us is not the problem. We need victory in 2024 and that should be the focus for now.”

He added that Ghanaians are hoping on the NDC to rescue them.from the current Economic hardship and whoever lead the minority should only focus on unity with a common purpose.

The NDC communicator said the Akufo-Addo led NPP government has destroyed the country and Ghanaians would not forgive the party if they disorganized themselves for the NPP to retain power.

” The Akufo-Addo government has destroyed the country, even person who are on pension and are surviving by the little the saved out of years they laboured for years are not spared.”

” The worse of all is that when these people(NPP) were borrowing and spending on travels and Cathedrals, we warn them , we ask President to cut down his ministers and other expenditures but they refused and today, we are all been asked to sacrifice for the mess the caused us,” Mr Afful intimated.

He however urged the Minority to once again exhibit the force of unity just as the did in electing the Speaker and save the nation.

Meanwhile the ex-minority leaders have assured of their commitment to work in unity with the new leaders.

An earlier statement signed by ex-Minority Deputy leader, James Avedzi have the assurance of their unflinching support tot the Ato Forson led Minority to succeed.
