Polls Put Haruna Iddrisu Ahead in NDC Flagbearer Contest; Asiedu Nketia Close Behind

The Global Info Analytics has said that in the race to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu leading the pack with 30%, followed by the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia 24%.

Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has 18% while Chief of Staff Julius Debrah holds 10%. Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa has 8% while Agric Minister Eric Opoku has 2%, Joshua Alabi 2%, Armah Kofi-Buah 2%, Kwame Awuah-Darko 2%, Spio Garbrah 1% and Okoe Vanderpuye 0%.

However, in a three-horse race without Ato Forson, the poll shows Haruna Iddrisu on 45%, Asiedu Nketia, 37% and Julius Debrah, 18%. Among NDC voters, Haruna Iddrisu is on 47%, Asiedu Nketia, 39% and Julius 14% and in the swing regions, Haruna 48%, Asiedu Nketia, 37% and Julius Debrah, 15%.

“But in a three-horse race without Haruna Iddrisu, the race is virtually tied between Asiedu Nketia and Forson. Asiedu Nketia 40%, Ato Forson 38% and Julius Debrah 22%. %. Among NDC voters, the race is nearly tied with Asiedu Nketia, 42%, Ato Forson 41% and Julius 17%. In the swing regions, Ato Forson leads with 47%, Asiedu Nketia, 38% and Julius Debrah, 15%,” it said.

In the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the latest poll by Global Info Analytics said Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has taken a commanding lead in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, securing 47 per cent of delegate support.

The results, published on the organisation’s official social media platforms on Monday, September 29, position him as the clear front-runner in the party’s internal contest.

The poll, however, also revealed a significant share of delegates remain undecided, raising questions about how the race may shift in the coming weeks.
