Dr Desmond Annan Elected Legal Green Association Leader

Dr Desmond Kofi Annan a Journalist of Class Media Group and Student of Ghana School of Law has been elected the New Leader of the Legal Green Association (LGA) for the 2026/2027 academic year.

‎Dr Annan secured 144 votes, representing 56.7 per cent of the valid votes cast, to emerge the winner of the association’s leadership election held to elect its eight-member executive.
‎
‎The Legal Green Association is an association of students pursuing professional law programmes at the Ghana School of Law and other institutions mandated to undertake professional law programmes.
‎
‎The election recorded a 64 per cent voter turnout, with 256 of the 397 registered members casting their ballots.
‎
‎The results were declared on Friday, September 11, 2026, following the completion of the voting process, with all eight executive positions successfully decided and no ties recorded.
‎
‎Dr Annan’s election places him at the helm of the association for the new academic year, with his administration expected to champion the interests and welfare of professional law students while promoting academic excellence, professional development and stronger student engagement.
‎
‎Speaking after his election, Dr Annan said the new leadership would work to build a more responsive and united association that would prioritise the concerns of members.
‎
‎“We are grateful to the members for the confidence reposed in us. This mandate is not merely about occupying positions; it is a call to serve, listen and deliver for the entire membership,” he said.
‎
‎He added that his administration would seek to strengthen the association’s role in supporting students as they navigate the demands of professional legal education and prepare for their careers at the Bar.

‎“I am committed to working with the executive and the entire membership to promote the welfare, academic interests and professional growth of every member of the Legal Green Association,” Dr Annan said.

‎Other elected executives include Agyeman Caleb Osei, who was elected Deputy Leader with 99 votes, representing 39.3 per cent, while Abena Danquah Okai won the General Secretary position with 240 votes, representing 93.8 per cent.
‎
‎Harriet Senam Ametzi was elected Deputy General Secretary with 145 votes, representing 57.1 per cent, while Rauf Yahaya Lutie secured the Financial Secretary position with 189 votes, representing 75.6 per cent.
‎
‎Richard Abredu Agyei was elected Deputy Financial Secretary after polling 246 votes, representing 96.1 per cent.
‎
‎Agyenim Boateng Chrisman was elected Organising Secretary with 118 votes, representing 46.1 per cent, while Kingsley Buabeng Eduah became Deputy Organising Secretary after polling 161 votes, representing 63.6 per cent.
‎
‎The new administration is expected to assume responsibility for the affairs of the association for the 2026/2027 academic year and focus on initiatives aimed at improving student welfare, strengthening academic support and creating opportunities for professional development.
