The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has donated a brand-new ambulance to the Bolgatanga Municipal Health Directorate to enhance emergency healthcare delivery and improve access to lifesaving medical services within the constituency.

The ambulance was officially handed over to the Acting Municipal Health Director, Simon Effah Adjei, in a ceremony attended by health officials and community stakeholders.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Adongo recounted a troubling incident that underscored the urgent need for additional emergency transport resources in the municipality.

He recalled how a constituent who suffered a severe head injury following an accident required immediate referral to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for specialized treatment. However, the only ambulance available at the time was already transporting another patient to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, resulting in a delay that endangered the patient’s life.

“That experience revealed a serious gap in our emergency healthcare system,” Mr. Adongo said.

“This ambulance is being donated to support patient healthcare delivery in the constituency. It will be managed by the Municipal Health Directorate, which will determine and prioritize emergency cases to ensure prompt response and save lives.”

The MP stressed that the ambulance should be used solely for medical emergencies and not for transporting deceased persons.

“I want to appeal to all residents to ensure that this ambulance is used strictly for its intended purpose. It is meant to carry sick and injured persons who require urgent medical attention, not for conveying deceased relatives,” he emphasized.

Mr. Adongo further clarified that the ambulance was purchased entirely with his personal resources and was not financed through any donor support or external funding.

Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the Municipal Health Directorate, Mr. Adjei expressed profound appreciation to the legislator for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention.

“We are deeply grateful to the Member of Parliament for this generous donation,” he said. “

“The municipality currently faces significant challenges with limited ambulance services. This addition will greatly augment our emergency response capacity and help us provide faster and more effective healthcare services to residents.”

Health officials believe the new ambulance will significantly improve emergency referrals, reduce response times, and strengthen healthcare delivery across the Bolgatanga Central Constituency.

The donation is expected to bring relief to residents and healthcare providers alike, ensuring that critically ill and injured patients receive timely medical attention when every minute counts.
