MCE for Wenchi Honoured with Prestigious Inclusive Governance Award at Blackstar Summit
In a high-profile ceremony celebrating transformative leadership and social equity, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Wenchi, Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, was officially decorated with the Inclusive Governance Honor for Youth & Gender Empowerment.
The prestigious event took place during the Blackstar Acclamation Honorary Award Summit at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel on Friday, March 27, 2026, drawing a distinguished audience of global and local icons.
Organized by the World Diplomatic Federation (WODIF), the award recognizes Hon. Gyamfi’s unwavering commitment to dismantling systemic barriers within the Bono Region.
Her leadership has been instrumental in ensuring that women and young people in the Wenchi Municipality transition from being mere spectators to active participants in the economic and political landscape.
Under her stewardship, the Wenchi Municipal Assembly has emerged as a national model for inclusive administration, setting a benchmark for localized governance across the Fourth Republic.
In an official communiqué, His Holistic Imperial Eminence Prof. Tyler Joseph Cuddeford praised the MCE’s visionary approach, noting that the essence of this honor lies in her “exceptional commitment to promoting inclusivity, empowering women and young people, and driving governance processes that benefit all members of the community.”
The Federation further emphasized that her leadership has created a roadmap for sustainable development that resonates far beyond the borders of her municipality.
The summit, held under the theme “Rebuilding Trust, Restoring Hope: A New Era of Governance in Ghana,” served as a platform to celebrate individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to public service.
The selection committee highlighted that Hon. Gyamfi’s work has not only improved the daily lives of her constituents but has also bolstered the integrity of public office through transparent and representative leadership.
The evening featured a keynote address by Prof. Joseph Tyler Cuddeford from the USA, alongside a panel of international experts from Malaysia, Singapore, and the UK.

As part of the high-profile induction, Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi was decorated with a Ceremonial Gown, Trophy, Medal, and Badge, alongside a formal Citation and Certificate of Honor.
Speaking to ExpressNewsGhana in an exclusive interview following the conferment, an elated Hon. Gyamfi expressed profound gratitude to her constituents and the Presidency for the opportunity to serve.
”First of all, I would like to thank the good people of Wenchi and the traditional authorities, the religious authorities, members of the assembly, my staff, and everybody who is watching this news today,” she stated.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank our President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, for appointing me as MCE for Wenchi and for allowing my potential to be known to the world. I also thank the organizers for their wonderful and impartial work. I am very happy because out of 261 MMDCEs, only a few of us have been awarded for our work. I am not taking this lightly.”
Reflecting on the impact of the Affirmative Action Bill and the President’s commitment to gender parity, she noted that the recognition serves as a catalyst for even greater service.
“As a youth and as a woman, I need to make an impact within the youth, and that is exactly what I am doing,” she explained. “I am happy that the small things we are doing in our communities are being recognized by the world.”

This is going to empower me to do more. If I was doing three things at a time, I am going to double or triple it because I have seen that these actions are making a real impact. I am very happy and I thank everyone who made this program a reality.”
The event stands as a powerful testament to the vital role local executives play in Ghana’s national progress and the global pursuit of gender and youth equity, marking a new chapter in Hon. Gyamfi’s career as a champion for inclusive development.
