Ghana Water Inaugurates G-Water Bottling Board, Sets Sights on Becoming Leading Bottled Water Brand
Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has inaugurated the Board of Directors of G-Water Bottling Limited, charging members to transform the company into one of Ghana’s most visible, trusted and commercially successful bottled water brands.
The inauguration forms part of Ghana Water’s broader strategy to diversify its revenue streams, strengthen business operations and create sustainable value through investments beyond its traditional mandate of producing and distributing potable water.
G-Water Bottling Limited, a subsidiary of Ghana Water Limited, was established to manufacture, package and distribute safe, high-quality drinking water while operating on sound commercial principles.
The newly inaugurated Board is chaired by Mr Agbesi Nutsu and comprises Dr Hadisu Alhasan as Executive Director, Mr Sulemana Alhassan Alancash and Mr Joseph Zefo Kero as Non-Executive Directors, and Madam Innocentia Kuupiel, the Chief Executive Officer of the company.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Accra, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ghana Water Limited, Eric J. Biliguo, described G-Water Bottling Limited as a critical component of the company’s long-term growth agenda.

According to him, the G-Water brand has already earned widespread public confidence due to its quality, purity and taste, but its full commercial potential remains untapped because of limited market penetration and availability.
“G-Water Bottling Limited represents an important pillar in Ghana Water’s long-term growth strategy.
The brand already enjoys strong public goodwill because of its quality, purity and taste.
The task before the Board is to ensure that this goodwill is translated into market growth and commercial success,” Mr Biliguo stated.
He urged the Board to provide strategic direction and effective oversight to position the company as a leading player in Ghana’s highly competitive bottled water industry.
Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited, Adam Mutawakilu, said the establishment of the subsidiary presents an opportunity for Ghana Water to leverage its extensive expertise in water production and quality assurance to compete effectively in the bottled water market.
He noted that beyond generating additional revenue, the company would strengthen the Ghana Water brand, create employment opportunities and contribute to Ghana’s economic development.
“The establishment of G-Water Bottling Limited creates an opportunity for us to utilise our expertise in water production and quality assurance to compete effectively in the bottled water industry while creating value for the people of Ghana,” Mr Mutawakilu said.
He added that the subsidiary forms part of the company’s broader transformation agenda aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and building sustainable business ventures.
In his acceptance remarks, Board Chairman Agbesi Nutsu pledged the Board’s commitment to providing strong leadership and sound governance to ensure the growth and long-term sustainability of the company.
He stressed that the Board understood the strategic importance of G-Water Bottling Limited, noting that its mission extends beyond profitability to supporting Ghana Water’s broader objectives.

“We recognise that G-Water Bottling Limited has been established not merely as a commercial enterprise, but as a strategic subsidiary of Ghana Water Limited with the responsibility of manufacturing, packaging and distributing safe, reliable and high-quality drinking water,” Mr Nutsu said.
He assured stakeholders that the Board would work diligently to strengthen the company’s market presence, improve operational performance and build a trusted brand capable of competing successfully within the industry.
With a renewed focus on expansion, innovation and commercial excellence, officials believe G-Water Bottling Limited is well-positioned to become a major force in Ghana’s bottled water sector while contributing significantly to the long-term sustainability of Ghana Water Limited.
