Salman Groups Defend Adamus Resources, Dismiss 'False Galamsey Propaganda'

Two community-based groups in the Salman area of the Western Region have come out strongly in defence of Adamus Resources Limited, describing allegations circulating about the company’s operations as false, malicious and orchestrated by persons allegedly linked to illegal mining activities.

In a statement issued by the Youth Movement of Salman and the Citizens Advocate Group (CAG), the groups urged the public to disregard what they described as a deliberate misinformation campaign aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the mining company and destabilising the peace within its operational communities.

According to the statement, the allegations are being spread by “individuals believed to be hired illegal miners (galamsey operators)” with the intention of misleading the public, creating unnecessary tension and undermining the company’s lawful operations and long-standing relationship with host communities.

“We wish to state categorically that these allegations are baseless, malicious and intended to mislead the public, create unnecessary tension, and undermine the company’s lawful operations and its relationship with the host communities,” the statement said.

The groups maintained that Adamus Resources Limited operates within Ghana’s legal framework and continues to engage traditional authorities, community leaders and other stakeholders through established consultation processes and community development initiatives.

They further praised the company’s commitment to responsible mining practices, environmental stewardship and peaceful coexistence with communities in its operational area.

“Adamus Mining Company operates under the laws of Ghana and continues to engage stakeholders through appropriate community consultation and development initiatives.

The company remains committed to responsible mining, environmental stewardship, and peaceful co-existence with all communities,” the statement added.

The Youth Movement of Salman and CAG appealed to traditional authorities, residents, the media and the general public to rely only on verified information from official sources instead of unsubstantiated claims being circulated on various platforms.

The groups also called on state security agencies to investigate individuals behind the alleged misinformation campaign and activities promoting illegal mining, warning that such actions threaten public safety, peace and the rule of law.

“We call on the relevant state security agencies to investigate those deliberately spreading misinformation and promoting illegal mining activities since such practices threaten the peace, public safety and the rule of law,” they stated.

Reaffirming their support for transparency and sustainable development, the groups pledged to continue engaging all stakeholders constructively to safeguard peace and promote responsible mining in the Salman area.

The statement was issued through the Chief of Salman, Nana Kwamena Bentum II, and was jointly endorsed by Justice Kwadu Amuzu, Rth. Jonas Kabutey of the Citizens Advocate Group, Francis Whajah, Andrews Kofi Assuah, Hon. Barnabas Ewereko, Hon. Francis Kwao Mensah, and Beatrice Amihere.

Copies of the statement were forwarded to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, the Western Regional Minister, the District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, the Police Commands at Esiama and Axim, the intelligence agencies in Ellembelle and Nzema East, as well as the media.
