VIVA & CO Ghana Limited has introduced its VIVA Fiberglass Bar to construction professionals in the Upper East Region, promoting the product as an alternative to conventional steel reinforcement bars.

The product was unveiled at a training workshop held at the Tap Hotel in Bolgatanga on October 24, 2026, bringing together engineers, masons, steel benders, contractors and other construction professionals to learn about its properties, applications and potential benefits.

Speaking at the event, Director of VIVA Fiberglass Bar, Ivan Romanov, said the product had been available in Ghana since 2017, with its use concentrated mainly in the Greater Accra Region.

He explained that the product had been used in construction projects under the supervision of structural engineers, providing opportunities to assess its performance and suitability for various applications.

According to Mr. Romanov, the company is expanding its outreach to other parts of the country to increase awareness of fiberglass reinforcement technology and make the product more accessible to construction professionals.

“We have had VIVA Fiberglass Bar in Ghana since 2017, and it has been used in major projects under the supervision of structural engineers. The experience gained from these projects has helped build knowledge and confidence in the product,” he said.

Mr. Romanov further disclosed that the product had been used in approximately 10,000 projects across Ghana and other African countries, including markets in West and East Africa.

He said the Bolgatanga workshop was organised to educate construction professionals, share experiences and introduce the product to a wider market in the Upper East Region.

As part of efforts to improve access, Mr. Romanov announced that the company had appointed Mr. Amoah, an engineer and building designer, as its agent in Ghana.

“We now have an agent, Mr. Amoah, who is also an engineer and building designer.

VIVA Fiberglass Bar is available in large quantities for sale, and we are encouraging the general public and construction professionals to learn more about it and consider its application in their projects,” he stated.
Emphasis on Engineering Properties.

Mr. Romanov also discussed the development of fiberglass reinforcement technology, noting that the material had a long history of use, although manufacturing processes and technologies continued to evolve.

He explained that VIVA Fiberglass Bar was designed to provide an alternative to conventional steel reinforcement, urging construction professionals to assess its engineering properties rather than judge its performance by weight alone.

“With VIVA Fiberglass Bar, strength is not weight,” he emphasised.

The workshop provided a platform for participants to learn about the product and explore its potential applications in modern construction.

The introduction of the product in Bolgatanga could broaden discussions among construction professionals in the Upper East Region about alternative reinforcement materials and their suitability for different building projects.

However, the adoption of fiberglass reinforcement bars in structural construction requires careful consideration of their technical specifications, applicable building codes and suitability for particular applications.

Engineers and contractors must ensure that any proposed use complies with relevant engineering requirements and safety standards.

The initiative forms part of VIVA & CO Ghana Limited’s efforts to expand awareness of fiberglass reinforcement technology and increase the availability of its product to construction professionals and the general public across Ghana.
