Veteran journalist and National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwart Adnan Adams Mohammed has officially declared his intention to contest for a position on the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), promising to strengthen grassroots participation, improve party communication and deepen organisational effectiveness.

In a formal declaration addressed to the party’s leadership on October 20, 2026, Adams said his decision to seek a seat on the NEC was driven by his commitment to the NDC’s founding principles of probity, accountability and social justice.

“I hereby formally announce my intention to contest for the position of National Executive Committee Member,” he stated, adding that his ambition was rooted in a lifelong dedication to the party and a desire to serve at the highest level of its administration.

Adams brings experience from various levels of the NDC’s organisational structure, having served as a Branch Secretary and Constituency Communications Officer before rising to contribute to the party’s national communication efforts.

He is also a co-founding member of the NDC Press Corps.

He believes his experience at both the grassroots and national levels places him in a strong position to bridge the gap between local party structures and the national leadership.

“Having worked from the branch level all the way to the national platform, I understand both the core operational needs of our grassroots members and the strategic imperative required at the national executive level,” he said.

If elected, Adams intends to prioritise strengthening the party’s communication machinery, expanding youth and cadre training programmes, and establishing more effective channels of communication between regional and branch executives and the national headquarters.

He argued that a stronger communication structure would ensure that grassroots members are adequately resourced and actively involved in the party’s decision-making processes.

“Streamlining communication channels between national leadership and branch executives ensures our base is well-resourced, heard, and prioritised,” Adams stressed.

On media strategy, the veteran journalist called for a more professional and proactive approach to communicating the NDC’s policies and responding to political challenges, emphasising the need for the party to use its communication expertise to shape public discourse.

“We must leverage professional media experience to proactively shape the public narrative and articulate our party’s policies clearly to the electorate,” he said.

Adams’ campaign comes as the NDC prepares to strengthen its internal structures and position itself for future political contests.

He believes the party’s ability to deliver on its promises to Ghanaians will depend partly on the competence, experience and organisational capacity of its national leadership.

He therefore appealed to delegates and party elders to support candidates with proven administrative experience, commitment and the ability to translate party objectives into practical results.

“The NDC remains the hope of the Ghanaian people,” he said, adding that the party needed an executive body with “experience, operational depth, unwavering loyalty, and proven capacity to execute winning strategies.”

Adams’ bid places grassroots empowerment, strategic communication and organisational efficiency at the centre of his campaign for a seat on the party’s National Executive Committee.
