Deputy CEO of NHIA Challenges NUGS Leaders to Leave Lasting Legacy
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in charge of Finance and Investment, Anatu Anne Seidu Bogobiri Esq., has challenged executives of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) to use their tenure to make a lasting impact on the lives of Ghanaian students.
She urged the student leaders to provide purposeful leadership, strengthen the Union and position NUGS as a credible platform for nurturing future leaders in Ghana.
Ms. Bogobiri made the call when the leadership of NUGS paid a courtesy visit to her office in Accra on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, to express appreciation for her support and participation in the activities of the student body.
The delegation was led by the NUGS Secretary for Special Education, Gideon Osei, and the Secretary for Education, Bismark Offei Bekoe.
The executives expressed their appreciation to Ms. Bogobiri for honouring their invitation to participate in the 59th NUGS Annual Conference, describing her support and engagement with the Union as valuable to student leadership and development.
As a token of appreciation, the NUGS leadership presented her with a framed picture during the visit.
Receiving the delegation, Ms. Bogobiri thanked the executives for the courtesy visit and the thoughtful gesture, while commending them for their commitment to serving the interests of Ghanaian students.
She encouraged the leaders to make effective use of their time in office and ensure that their tenure leaves a positive mark on the Union and its members.
“I urge you to leave a lasting legacy at the end of your tenure and take NUGS to greater heights,” she said.
Ms. Bogobiri further challenged the executives to strengthen NUGS as a platform for developing responsible and visionary leaders capable of contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s development.
She urged them to continue positioning NUGS as “a true leadership incubator for Ghanaian students,” stressing the importance of using student leadership as an avenue to acquire the values, experience and skills needed for national service.
According to her, effective student leadership goes beyond occupying positions and should be measured by the positive impact leaders make on the people and institutions they serve.
The NUGS executives, in response, expressed their gratitude to the NHIA DCEO for her warm reception, mentorship and continuous support for youth and student development.
They also acknowledged her participation in the Union’s activities and her willingness to engage with student leaders on issues affecting education and the development of young people.
The courtesy call forms part of initiatives by the NUGS leadership to strengthen relationships with individuals, public institutions and other stakeholders who support education, youth development and student leadership in Ghana.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for the student leaders to deepen their relationship with Ms. Bogobiri and explore avenues for continued collaboration in advancing the interests and welfare of Ghanaian students.
