Former DCE Enters Race for NDC Upper East Regional Secretary, Pledges Grassroots Revival

Hon. Alexis Adugdaa Ayamdor, a former District Chief Executive (DCE), has officially declared his intention to contest the position of Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region, promising to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and promote greater unity, discipline and effective coordination.
In a statement issued on September 21, 2026, Mr Ayamdor who once served as DCE for Bongo, said his decision followed extensive consultations and careful reflection on how best he could contribute to the growth and organisational development of the party in the region.
“I have, after extensive consultations and careful reflection, decided to offer myself for the position of Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress in the Upper East Region,” he said.
Mr Ayamdor brings more than two decades of experience spanning governance, education, international development, project management, administration and community mobilisation.
His work experience includes serving as District Chief Executive of the Bongo District Assembly, Programme Management Specialist and Northern Sector Office Coordinator for USAID, Programme Officer at Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and Programme Facilitator for the IBIS Public Participation in Local Governance project.
He has also worked as Community Empowerment Programme Officer for TRAX-Ghana, interned with the ECOWAS Parliament and Commission, and previously served as a pupil-teacher in Bongo. He currently works as Industrial Liaison Officer at the Bolgatanga Technical University.
Beyond his professional career, Mr Ayamdor has accumulated extensive grassroots political experience, having served as a Unit Committee Member, elected Assembly Member, Presiding Member, Branch Secretary and Constituency Campaign Team Member.

He was also a member of the Bongo Constituency Fundraising Committee for the 2024 elections, currently serves as Regional Team-Lead of the Former MMDCEs Forum and is Secretary to the Constituency Council of Elders of the Bongo Constituency.
Outlining his vision for the position, Mr Ayamdor said his administration would prioritise the strengthening of party structures, improved communication and coordination, grassroots mobilisation, unity and discipline.
He also pledged to promote greater participation of women and young people in party activities, enhance election preparedness, strengthen accountability and improve administrative effectiveness across the party’s structures.
“My commitment is to work with all stakeholders to build a stronger, more united, disciplined and responsive party organisation that is firmly connected to the grassroots,” he said.
Mr Ayamdor described himself as a “team player, listener, organiser and servant-leader,” and said he was prepared to work collaboratively with Regional and Constituency Executives, Branch Executives, elected representatives, former leaders, cadres, women, youth and the wider membership of the NDC.
He called for collective commitment to the party’s structures and grassroots organisation, while appealing to party members for their support, encouragement and prayers as he offers himself for the position.
He anchored his campaign on four key thematic areas, focusing on party Unity, Discipline, Innovation and Grassroots Mobilisation, which he said would guide his efforts to contribute to the organisational strengthening of the NDC in the Upper East Region.
