Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted four police personnel in recognition of their exceptional performance and contribution to the successful dismantling of an armed robbery syndicate in the Upper West Region.

The promoted officers are General Corporal Mortsi Kwashie Divine, Detective Corporal Salifu Ishmael Aketisiwin, General Lance Corporal Ernest Ameyaw Akumfi and General Lance Corporal John Bekaar Vitus.

The promotions follow an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Upper West Regional Police Command, which resulted in the arrest of six suspects believed to be linked to a series of armed robbery incidents recorded in parts of the Wa West District and the Wa Municipality.

According to the Police Administration, the four personnel demonstrated exceptional dedication, courage and professionalism during the operation, contributing significantly to the success of the exercise.

The Police Administration said the promotions were intended to recognise the officers’ commitment to combating violent crime and to encourage other personnel to continue demonstrating professionalism and dedication in the discharge of their duties.

The IGP and the Police Management Board congratulated the four officers on their elevation and commended them for their role in the operation.

The Police Administration urged the promoted personnel to maintain the same level of commitment and professionalism as they take on greater responsibilities in their new ranks.

The development also underscores the Police Service’s continued emphasis on intelligence-led policing and effective collaboration among personnel in tackling armed robbery and other serious crimes.

The IGP encouraged the officers to regard their promotion not only as recognition of past performance but also as a renewed responsibility to protect lives and property and uphold public confidence in the Police Service.

The Police Administration further reaffirmed its commitment to recognising and rewarding personnel who demonstrate exceptional courage, professionalism and results in the fight against crime.
