Akatsi South MCE Inspects Key Projects, Reaffirms Commitment to Infrastructure Revitalisation
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akatsi South, Hon. Daniel Dagba, has conducted an extensive inspection of ongoing infrastructure developments within the municipality, highlighting key safety and public administration works aimed at improving local living standards.
Accompanying the MCE on the working tour were key technical heads and officers from the Municipal Assembly, including the Municipal Works Engineer, Mr. Mike Asare; Physical Planning Officer, Mr. Benjamin Abroakwa; Mr. Ferguson Kofigah; and the Municipal NADMO Director, Mr. Daniel Gidi.
The delegation first inspected the construction of a new public bus stop at the Accra Station, situated directly in front of Wemegah Stores.
Addressing the gathering at the site, Hon. Dagba stressed the strategic value of the project to local transit order and commuter security.
“This bus stop is critical to ensuring public safety, streamlining transport operations, and safeguarding both traders and passengers along this busy stretch,” the MCE noted during the walkthrough.
The inspection team subsequently visited the long-abandoned semi-detached two-bedroom residential bungalow within the Municipal Assembly premises.
Originally initiated in 2010 under the tenure of former District Chief Executive Hon. Peter Nortu Kotoe—prior to the administrative division of the area into Akatsi South and Akatsi North—the project had remained uncompleted for over a decade.
Hon. Dagba expressed satisfaction with the revived construction efforts, confirming that work on both sites is now progressing steadily toward completion.
The revival of the stalled residential bungalow forms part of a broader infrastructure drive led by the Dagba administration since assuming office.
Over the past year, the Assembly has systematically targeted stalled “legacy” projects while executing new developments in healthcare, education, and municipal infrastructure.
Under Hon. Dagba’s tenure, the Assembly has delivered new and renovated Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds equipped with staff quarters at Zuta, Ahlepedo, and Wute, alongside the construction of a medical laboratory at Atidzive.
Educational capacity has similarly expanded with completed classroom blocks across communities including Torgodo, Glikpome, Alorkpa, Dzuepe, Wodome, and Akatsi Senior High Technical School.
Commercial and civic upgrades also encompass the completion of the Municipal Police Commander’s official residence, market shed renovations at the Akatsi Main Market, the paving of the Accra Station Lorry Park, and ongoing mechanised borehole installations across unelectrified and water-stressed communities.
